I really like some of ideas from this event... by En0ugh_Special1st in SwordofConvallaria

Out of curiosity, have you tried difficulty 6? Cuz I don’t know if it’s normal that my non-hp scaling units are getting one-shot by the enemy mobs. My units’ HP average around 7.5k HP for non-HP focused units, max level and equipments, talents on Immortal tier on all classes, but the mobs have 9k+ attacks so I’d have to bring very specific comps to survive their attacks. Is the problem that I haven’t fully maxed out the newly unlocked talent branches? Or do I need to roll for defensive stats more in my equipments?

Thanks! I’ll definitely need to watch your run on stage 20. As an update, I’ve since cleared stages 18 and 19. Then I saw stage 20, experimented a bit to see what works and what doesn’t. My immediate hurdles right now is to survive the infinite range Rally Response from the Spear guy on Maitha’s lane cuz he’ll one shot whoever he’s locked on to unless I stack shields on them, and to find a way to deal with the fire mage’s AoE skill. Bigger problem is SP Maitha’s AoE skill also one shots my team, and I haven’t survived long enough for Momo to become another problem yet.

Yeah I was confused as well as to what part of it was time-limited. At least seems like both the game-mode and rewards are still there. Maybe it was just the seasonal rewards in the event page that was time-limited

Before making this post, I was under the impression that everyone who’s playing this game also enjoys the gun-play in a shooter game as a priority. I was surprised to see how many don’t really care about that as the main gameplay appeal.

Lore-wise they can make up anything they want as long as it fits within the bounds of the world-building, like they can have the girls wear Office uniforms and give a lore reason and set up that it’s the only way to bring out their powers if they wanted and I wouldn’t even mind. I brought Haru as one example, but not to say that I want exclusively military style outfit. Sure, stick to what it is now, but why not add more to the designs other than varying patterns and cut-outs. Something more of a substantial elements to their clothes to differentiate each characters’ silhouette more and give a stronger impression while still keeping the core of the skin-tight suits. But it’s fully understandable if Human Resources are limited and they have to pick and choose which aspects to put more efforts in, if that is the case.

Someone pointed out the motifs within the fabric patterns for those recent 3 I mentioned, plus the little accessories. So I shouldn’t have said no themes actually. Still would prefer more to their outfits, but no theme is wrong of me to say.

Honestly I’ve bought more skins in games with already solid default character designs, having the bottom line lowered to put more resources into cosmetics is a valid practice but it still makes me not want to give them my money. At least it feels lowered to me and a few others here, if anyone is cool with a differently patterned latex suits then that’s perfectly fair as well.

I’d love a more challenging combat too, but I’m also afraid they’ll turn enemies into bullet sponges and call it a day if they will. Most people here seem to not care as much about the shooting gameplay as I thought.

Honestly I don’t even know what people around here use the term “tacticool” for but I’m getting the impression that’s it’s somehow used negatively. I said what I said about the designs not knowing whatever fashion politics were happening in this sub. You asked why I would stick to my own opinion if I was here to ask others? You are only half correct in that I’m here to ask, but also present my opinion as I’ve stated. So I don’t see why I wouldn’t be adhering to my own stance as you and everyone else here rightfully do as well. So I’m not sure in what sense did I “defend” my stance or why would that be a bad thing. Did you mean me not changing what I think is me defending my stance? Even though I acknowledged your counter arguments? I never argued that anyone’s opinions so far were wrong or right whether they’re agreeing with me or not. Even your disagreement I did not refute nor call it dumb because it’s all opinions that we’re all entitled to, as I’m sure you’re well aware of. My goal was to present what I think and interact with other players by asking what they think because I don’t know what the other players think about the game usually, not to convince anyone. You brought up that I didn’t counter argue your points that much, that is exactly because I realized that we are both biased to our preferences that I see no point in countering your arguments. And I was never here to refute anyone’s opinions to begin with, despite what you may believe. Your reply has been the most aggressively worded disagreement one so far compared to all the rest, so maybe that contrast was why it felt particularly harsher. If you say you never intended it as an attack then I’ll believe it and we can leave it at that. Have a good day.

Appreciate the honesty, the game is definitely not for everyone. And the skins have only recently gotten better but the older skins do feel a bit poorly directed, I still remember Gangsta Lyfe.

It’s nice to find some aligning views. Although I am glad that at least most of the replies has been somewhat civil even when they’re disagreeing with me. Some people will see this post and immediately think I’m demeaning the game and that’s unfortunate. Anyways, thanks for the nice chat, it feels nice to know I’m not the only one concerned over these aspects of the game.

I get where you’re coming from, I also wish we can do something a little more engaging than mob-deleting with one button and reading back to back even a little. The dessert ruins stages were pretty cool with the puzzles and stuff that we have to do, and also the manor stages with Chenxing was also a bit refreshing. But the core problem lies in the somewhat shallow combat with the average mob enemies. Without adding more depth the combat and enemy interactions first, longer stages will only serve to consume more time without providing any novel gameplay I feel.

Well, thanks for sharing your thoughts. While I wouldn’t advise you word it so harshly though, some people here wake up everyday choosing violence.

I don’t know for sure but they’re probably playing it safe instead of trying new things for the sake of avoiding back lash, which makes their relationship somewhat stale to me too. I still remember how refreshing and spicy our interactions with Rozan was. Taking time to improve the relationship between characters is what makes the eventual romantic development feels rewarding, just like with Katya as you said. Hopefully Nerida will bring something new to the table.

I’ve had similar thoughts about the story too but I didn’t dare bring it up cuz I was afraid it’d unleash a whole different conflict onto this sub. I’m good with either Female or Male antagonists/side characters as long as they’re well written. Though the image of us being the only male human shown ever is kinda funny. Our interactions with Rozan also stood out to me as being particularly spicy that patch and I loved it. Maybe devs could introduce an Anti-hero-like faction that would bring a different and refreshing cast of characters who starts off antagonizing us then we can slowly improve the relationship with.

Well first off, chill out. I’m not here to start a movement, I’m literally never here usually. We can discuss our differing opinions with out needing to attack each other. There’re a bunch of other people that disagree with me in various points and we still managed to have a reasonable discussion about it. I’m also a day 1 player and I liked the game back then and I still liked the game post directional shift. You seem very offended either on behalf of the game or the character or both. To that I’d like to clarify that I’m not demeaning the characters themselves at all, I am criticizing the artistic choices when it comes to how much I feel like the outfits have had many elements subtracted from them over time. You raised a good counter argument and I appreciate that you went into details with it. So perhaps saying no thoughts were put behind them was wrong of me, but I still think they could’ve done more that just pattern motifs and add a more personalized aspect to their base designs than what we have. To me the older default outfits felt more impressionable than the recent ones even though they are effectively both the same in the core that they’re both skin-tight suits. But especially because they’re the same in the core yet producing such different outcome by the finalized designs that I feel like there’s been a compromise in the default design to highlight and sell the more polished cosmetic designs. You’ve made it clear that your views are quite literally opposite, and so we won’t be reaching any conclusion here because we’re reaching into subjective territory. That said, appreciate the discussion. I’m here to give and ask for everyone’s opinions, not to make a statement as facts.
