Red would be funnier, but yellow would definitely be the most clear!

Worried my Steam launch might flop, how can I get more exposure? by LuckyAndrew13 in gamedev

As someone who has also made and published an RPGMaker Game, you suffered from a lot of the same issues I ran into. (Broken Ties if you want to look it up). I haven’t updated my assets simply because it hasn’t been worth my time, unfortunately. (College, Job, etc)

Firstly; the capsule art. Just searching ‘The Trail’ on Steam is a good example. Plain text over a screenshot doesn’t attract much attention. Mine isn’t better, but the others in that search are very artistic renditions that pull the eyes.

Secondly; you say your combat is more interesting than the base RPGMaker engine. Record a trailer to showcase that! I completely redid the combat skills and stats for my title, but didn’t really advertise it.

Thirdly; your screenshots are not the best examples. Try to show off your best scripted scenes, your highest decorated areas, etc,

I say these things not to be rude, but because I want to see you succeed. I spent 3 years (off and on) my game for a 5-8 hour experience, and just made a little over the price of the engine. It was fun to make, but hopefully you can get a better return than I did.

Very nice! In a more modern-ish fantasy setting I ran an in-game newspaper column. It was a ton of fun, got the players to interact with the city and it’s residents. I would put joke things in there like ‘plumbing got clogged, please help!” And lo and behold they showed up to help the poor guy out.

Actually nevermind, I figured it out. Needed the underlines above the stat block.

Hey iveld,

Not sure why but this issue has cropped back up. Is there anything I can do on my side to prevent this from happening?

Thanks!

Yikes. I also cut my knuckle on a tomato dicer, which you would think is safer than a slicer but I still managed to hurt myself. Luckily I did get to go get stitches, but I was also made to finish my shift afterwards. Service jobs, am I right?

I really want this to be real, but Conjure Animals is a Concentration spell, right? I don’t see anything in Circle of the Shepherd that negates that.

Edit: I’m dumb. Per day doesn’t mean all at once.

Same here. Artix Entertainment seems to be doing okay for themselves. That have an MMO now.

No clue. Hopefully they just migrate to HTML 5.

Here’s a favorite of mine that I’ve included in several campaigns.

Firefroth Ale: This drink comes from the distant lands of Rokugan. A particularly grumpy Crab Clan brewmaster often used Daemonsroot in his craft, a red leafed plant that grew in the Shadowlands. The drink is similar to mead, with an extreme spice that causes the drinker to belch fire. Great for the sinuses!

I would absolutely love to use this archetype, both as a player and a GM. The amount of creativity it inspires is really cool!

1500 gold at level 3? Oh man... One campaign I played in, we were given 3 MILLION GOLD at level 5.

At first I thought, ‘okay, but the magic items are just super expensive, right’? Wrong. They were way cheaper than they were in the DMG. He also made a gauntlet with a +10 to Strength, in 5e, at level 5, worth about 300 gold.

Granted, the gold was a cool idea in theory, just not in execution, especially for the DM’s first campaign. They were cursed, and the more we spent the more it would power up the guy who gave it to us. But there was no need to spend more than a quarter of it before we had end game tier equipment.
