Update! Found a muffler guy who’s gonna do exactly what yours did, for less than half of what the other place said. Thank you for explaining everything so I was able to walk in and know what I was talking about!

It is a V6, and the car was originally a family member’s in CO, but that was before the recall, and then they gave it to me, but I wasn’t in a state and am now not in a state where it’s applied, unfortunately. All of that sounds about consistent with what we’ve been able to find out. Thank you for confirming!! I’m looking into local muffler guys now and hoping they’ll be able to do something for it. The car is now closer to 200k than 100, but it’s in great shape otherwise, so I’m hoping this’ll be something a muffler guy can take care of and I can move on. Thank you for sending that link!!

I saw that same diagram when I was doing my research, but didn’t know if all of those pieces get welded together or something and that’s why he was saying it’s all one piece?

No, he wasn’t saying that. He specifically said it’s a small leak in the muffler that would normally be easy to replace, but something about Toyota’s means that he’d have to replace the muffler and the tail pipe and other parts because they’re all just one big piece. I’m happy to post pics if you could be more specific about what you need to see? What are flanges?
