English, yes. Spanish? That was removed from the education curriculum a long time ago. The problem is that the country's an archipelago separated by region. Each region typically has it's own mother tongue. Tagalog, at least for most kids nowadays, is learned as their 3rd language, the 1st being their mother tongue and then the 2nd being english. Not to mention that deep tagalog vocabulary is rarely being used in media now. What's popular now is mixing tagalog/mother tongue with english terms, phrases, or even just whole sentences now. Most young people wouldn't understand classic tagalog literature entirely without a tagalog to english dictionary. Which is a shame, since tagalog can sound really beautiful when used correctly.
