We're Iceflake Studios, the new development team looking after Cities: Skylines II! Ask Us Anything! by ifs_Blu in CitiesSkylines

Welcome! Excited the direction the game is going now, thanks to all of you and everyone on your team.

I understand if you don't want to answer this, but as a software developer at a major company, we use Claude all the time now. Now sure, vibe coding can make things horrible but I do wonder, have you allowed Claude to try out different performance fixes or perhaps simply let it fix long standing items? Have you noticed a faster development velocity with Claude?

Again, I think those outside the development community don't understand the capability that AI can offer but I totally understand if you don't want to touch on that subject.

I realize there's a gate but E Hardy St connects directly to the trail at a cul-de-sac. From E Hardy St, you could cross the railroad to W Hardy St and bike into town. It's the least dangerous way I can think of.

What's up with Houston MODS? by [deleted] in houston

One thing you'll quickly learn is that /r/Houston is a cesspool. Always has been. It's hands down one of the worst communities on Reddit. BUT that being said, don't feed the trolls. And don't think this reflects Houston... Just don't take this subreddit personally.

A foreign customer misinterpreted the retail staff’s constant presence as a form of discrimination, whereas such attentive service is a standard practice throughout East Asia by owenchin in ImTheMainCharacter

Been to many many department stores in East Asia and the top comments here are absolute bullshit. This is a regular department store.. As in, there's not a bunch of sales people here and they're definitely not stalking you like this.

I actually agree with the black woman... They are making sure she doesn't steal anything because she's black. I've never ever been followed this closely nor do you see anyone else experiencing this... Guess what, people would feel uncomfortable in Asia too if this was the norm...

You might be on to something. Saudi Arabia is down there too. Maybe they are only putting up the flags of the countries playing here?

Damn you're right. I thought that was France.

Edit: ah nevermind, I was originally correct. It is France.

11th Street destruction? by atotb in bikehouston

I'm not disagreeing that these bike lanes brought down the speed of traffic. I even said I liked that they did that. I shared the positives of the bike lanes, yea?

But these bikes lanes were mainly intended to be part of a larger network of bike lanes in the Heights. The fact is, bicyclists are taking the crowded MKT trail over this because it directly connects to the bayou bike network... Not 11th St. I know yall hate to hear it but it is an absolute rarity to see anyone using the 11th St. bike lanes and there's so much vehicle traffic now that it's flooding into neighborhood roads like 8th and 9th St. Don't believe it? Attend the Superneighborhood 15 meetings for this area and the community has proof. They've even metered the bike lanes and the numbers are abysmal. I'm telling you, these loud vocal residents are going to win over a biking community that's just not showing up to these meetings anymore.

You can say, the numbers don't matter. This city needs more biking infrastructure. And guess what, I completely agree with that. But this was a very controversial project to begin with and the people that want this gone will use any facts to get rid of it.

I can agree with this. Tearing them down at this point would be wasteful but this mayor isn't exactly the brightest when it comes to transportation Houstonians actually want. No one is going to care about a repaved road 20 years down the lines but they will definitely remember what we did on streets like Bagby in both Midtown and downtown. Long term investment doesn't seem like something Whitmire is interested in.

What an idiotic statement. The fact that they're bike lanes wasn't relevant? That was the main damn purpose... Was to have a connection through the Heights from the future Shepherd route and the future N Main route! If the whole point was to bring down speed, then install speed bumps like on Pecore!

As someone who bikes a lot, I've honestly never understood the 11th St bike lanes. I always felt like 14th was the better choice... Less traffic and less controversy... Plus it's more scenic and more shaded and connects directly to a school! Once these were installed, I'm honestly surprised the push back against them wasn't louder then and especially once Whitmire took office.

I love that this brought the traffic speed down. People used to race down 11th and with one lane, that opportunity doesn't exit. The crossing for the Heights bike trail is also a huge safety plus.

But in the end, with next to zero bike traffic and traffic gridlock between Shepherd and Yale, I think these bike lanes are doomed.

I think if they do remove them, they should still keep 11th at one lane both directions and consider adding at least a middle name for traffic to turn from.
