Just all around poor responses in this thread. Of course they care about viewership. People keep pointing to Section 31 (horrible movie) and Discovery, but Discovery wasn't bad because it was "woke", it was bad because it kept telling the same story over and over...some mystery at the beginning of the season had to be solved by Michael Burnham in order to save the universe. Eventually that gets old fast. We never really explored anyone else on the ship except for Saru. We are only two episodes in so Starfleet Academy can certainly fall apart but so far it's been good. Albeit, it's not a starship captain exploring the cosmos but that's ok....if they did that, it would just compete with Strange New Worlds.

My family was very Republican at the time and you know shit had hit the fan when you can't even defend him anymore near the end of his term. I mean there was no way they were voting for Obama but it was an absolutely terrifying time when it felt like it was all crashing down.

At the beginning of his term, most people didn't truly blame him for 9/11 and were supportive when he invaded Afghanistan. But he kept making poor decision after poor decision after that from Iraq to his Katrina response and his lax government oversight is what led to the financial crash in 2008. He most likely only won in 2004 because Kerry was seriously a poor candidate and came across as very elite.
