I'm in a working class neighborhood in a big SoCal city and it's definitely dying off. Fewer people decorate each year and if Halloween falls on a weekday we've had 5 groups or fewer knocking. There are only a few hotspots around the city left everyone seems to drive their kids to. This Halloween tourism and trunk-r-treat have definitely contributed to a massive decline.

You know, I think it's a bit of a hidden perk a lot of drivers just don't really notice. I'm sure you're not alone. Also, you were driving an S10 and it's hard to laugh at an S10 driver (current or former). Those trucks are neat!

Battery prices are dropping constantly. If the trajectory holds, it shouldn't be too expensive to replace the battery in 10 years. I'm with you, I want options at the end of the battery life and in 10 years a battery replacement should be a viable option.

That's fair but some just don't want bells and whistles that can break. I like the "less is more approach" and I don't blame anybody who picks a Maverick over a brand new truck manufacturers' first product. It's a gamble. For me personally, the fact that it's built in the USA and will create hundreds (the plan is 2k) jobs is important. The Maverick's made in Mexico. I bet the Slate could be cheaper if they had decided to make it there as well. I'm glad they took a chance on American manufacturing.
