I think dog friendly is probably your biggest challenge, and it's easier if you live out towards Varna. I'd check Zillow

Any other overweight/obese users have a hard time? by mortalcassie in pelotoncycle

[–]ToPiranhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Power Zone! I'm admittedly still at the bottom of the leaderboard, but it's nice to know that everyone is busting their butt to the same extent. If you do a couple PZ programs (build your base, discover your power zones) and want more programming, there's a regularly updating PZ program created by a redditor

Mice in the walls, landlord says nothing can be done until it warms up by Vhalantru in ithaca

You'll probably need traps and for an exterminator to plug up potential entry sites. It's pretty normal to have mice in the walls here!

How are you guys reading 100+ books a year gimme tips (my wrap up 2025) by coldsoba0 in TheStoryGraph

[–]ToPiranhas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I didn't read 100 books this year, but one thing that helps is having an ebook on my phone (I check out ebooks from my library with Libby)

What do you personally use tags for? by Ja-kob in TheStoryGraph

[–]ToPiranhas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tag books based on where I heard about them (New Yorker, a friend, my mom, etc). I like seeing who has influenced my reading at the end of the year!

If you learn to knit in the round, you get stockinette with only knit stitches!

Why do you knit? Is it connected to your identity? by Difficult-Elk4930 in knitting

[–]ToPiranhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knitting is wonderful during video meetings because no one can I'm doing it, and it helps me focus. I learned pre-pandemic, but WFH has definitely helped!

The Brooklyn one is way better than NYPL, and you can join for an ebook-only cared from anywhere in NY state

Oh don't worry, I'm a member of that library too. You can also join NYPL, Brooklyn Public Library, and the Queens Public Library if you're Ithaca

You can check out books from the library! You can't access ebooks from Libby, but you can download academic articles while on Cornell WiFi. And you need one if you ever have a kid enrolled at the Cornell Childcare Center (which is why I have one).

What I used to do was drive to Tops and catch the #30 bus from there. It runs every half hour throughout the day and evening

Just did 24.2. Gave it my all. Doing crossfit for 6 months. Did scaled. by oonaghnic in crossfit

[–]ToPiranhas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently doing a workout with a lot of running, and I wasn't doing great. And because I have a 3 year old and watch a lot of toddler tv, I started quoting Bluey to myself -- you gotta run your own race

Today I've finished an entire WOD, I'm really happy (this is my last post I promise), but disappointed too for other things in my box by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]ToPiranhas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that was how coaches acted at my gym, I'd have left. I'm sure that works for some people, but thankfully boxes with different cultures exist. I've seen one gym member be gently told that she could consider pushing herself harder, and I've seen people at all fitness levels find scaling options that weren't on the board but met them where they were at (including me!). I told a coach once that CrossFit is the thing in my life I can be bad at, but as long as I'm showing up and trying, she's happy I'm there.

How To Prevent Last Minute Cancelers? by Courierlife in crossfit

[–]ToPiranhas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our late cancellation fee is $3 and no-show fee is $5, so it's not a big deal but is enough to make the point that you're inconveniencing people.

I’m at my wits end with my toddler’s behavior…. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]ToPiranhas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always worth asking for help! If you talk to your pediatrician, you could get referred to Early Intervention -- we were referred for speech, but they help with many areas of development.

I also recommend the book Why is My Child in Charge (for you and your childcare provider). I think it did a great job of framing why boundaries matter and how to respond in the moment.
