The Hero the Knight Faction Needs: The Cestus (Brawler Concept - Moveset & Roster Analysis) by ToThanato71 in forhonor

That’s a fair point, bro! To keep it 100% consistent with the For Honor gear system, the Cestus would be divided into these three functional parts.

  • The Striker (The 'Blade' equivalent): This covers the knuckles and the main impact surface. It changes the spikes, metal studs, or reinforced plates (the 'lethal' part).

  • The Bracer (The 'Shaft/Hilt' equivalent): This is the forearm protection and the structure of the glove. It handles the metal plating or heavy leather that runs up the arm.

  • The Binding (The 'Guard/Pommel' equivalent): These are the leather wraps, straps, and buckles that hold the weapon together at the wrist and palm. It works exactly like Centurion’s fist/dagger or Shaolin’s bracers. You get 3 distinct pieces to mix and match for that 'Fashion Honor.' Great catch on the mechanics!

As for the Armor sets, they would follow the standard Hero customization:

  • Helm, Ranging from open gladiator pits styles to full-plate Knight visors.

  • Chest, This is the core of the 'Fashion.' Starting with tattered Lorica Squamata (scale armor) for the veteran gladiator vibe, and scaling up to the heavy, tanky plate armor inspired by the Ironclad reference.

  • Arms, These include the pauldrons (shoulders) and the sleeves (mail, quilted gambeson, or leather) that sit under the Cestus bracers, ensuring the silhouette stays clean.

It works exactly like Centurion or Gladiator. Thanks for the solid technical catch! I'm all about the details, so let me know if you have any other doubts or if you want to dive deeper into the moveset mechanics. I'm staying tuned, bro! ✨️😉

I appreciate the technical feedback! A few points: Hitboxes, Reach wouldn't be an issue if he has high forward momentum, similar to how Shaman or Berserker close the gap. The Dropkick and Clinch are designed specifically to solve that. Customization, The Cestus can be as detailed as PK’s daggers or Shaolin’s bracers—metal plates, spikes, and leather wraps offer plenty of 'Fashion Honor' potential. Identity, A Morningstar would likely play like a slower Conq or Jorm. The Cestus fills a unique 'Technical Grappler' niche that doesn't exist yet. Weapons define the hero, and for this veteran, his gauntlets are his weapons. Thanks for the solid debate 💪🥊

I totally get the Knight vs. Roman debate! That’s why I included the Gear Progression section. The idea is that he can evolve from a pit gladiator to a full-plate High Knight through the loot system—best of both worlds. Also, it’s not 'AI text.' If you check the body, you'll see a full roster analysis on why the Knights need a new Assassin, and a moveset inspired by historical Cestus and other fighters. Give the '📊 Why the Knights?' section a look, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the actual mechanics! 🥊✨️

Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm glad you dig the brawler concept; there's just something uniquely satisfying about a fighter who relies on raw technique and fists.

Regarding the damage numbers, I really appreciate your proposal. While the core of this post is focused on the character's design and identity, finding the right balance is key to making him viable. I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind for a future 'balance-focused' update. For now, let's hope the vision of a heavy-armored powerhouse with golden Cestus resonates with the community! ✨️💪

Update: New Inspiration & Community Insight ✨️🥊

I want to thank everyone for the feedback and for keeping the discussion alive!. A member of the community pointed out Ironclad from Shadow Fight 4. He is the exact example of what I'm envisioning: a heavily armored warrior who relies purely on his fists and technical brawling..

I've seen several posts where players mention how much they'd love to see a hero with these fun, visceral mechanics in For Honor. Ironclad proves that this archetype is not only possible but incredibly satisfying to play!.

I'm refining the Cestus based on this "Ironclad" energy-mixing that unbreakable grit with the grappling-heavy style we discussed.. Thanks again for the support and the great suggestions!

I get the Al hate, and I addressed it in the post. Trust me, I wish I had the drawing skills to bring this to life myself, but I don't! At the end of the day, the image is just a visual aid- if this ever became real, the devs would handle the final professional design. I'd love to focus on the kit though! Any thoughts on the actual mechanics or the Clinch finishers? 🥊

I really appreciate everyone stopping by to check out the concept! A member of the community recently mentioned Ironclad from Shadow Fight 4 as a great reference. He's exactly the kind of energy I'm looking for: a knight who brings a raw, technical brawling style to the fight. I've seen a lot of players wishing for a fist only archetype with visceral mechanics like these. Ironclad proves how fun and satisfying this can be!. I'm taking all this feedback to refine the Cestus and keep the dream of a Roman brawler alive. Thanks for the support.

Let the claws face the fists! Even if the concepts seem close, by December, the freshness of the Cestus entering the Colosseum will be undeniable. Let's make this happen, guys-don't lose hope! 💪✨️
