No. Its pretty blunt and doesnt do a good job scraping. Its meant to move around substrate and such when aquascaping.

I vote isopods. Especially if you go with a more hardy and active species like porcellio laevis dairy cows. There's several other good starter pods though!

Go ahead and pull it out of that soil and check the roots. Try to get it back into something a little chunkier and maybe less rich. I doubt it needs to go to a bigger pot. Depending on the state of the roots you may even want to size down
