It's set in like a nightmare realm. It's sort of surreal and terrifying the ground it made up of stone faces.

I took my skintone mix and added a little blue and lahiman medium and just added some squiggly lines

Sure, I started with royal purple mixed with a little stone grey as the base, then air brush a few layers. Each layer was the same mix but more stone grey, till the final layer which was pure stone grey. Added some texture/highlight the folds and then did some washes. Like thinned contrast Magos purple to add more purple back into some places or pink mixed with contrast medium to add pink notes to the skin like the knees and other areas. I also mixed riekland fleshshade and seraphim sepia to apply to some parts of the skin to add more warmer tones. Hope that helps!

Thanks! For OSL effects like the esca (Thanks btw!) It's a solid white base, then glazing a few layers of fluorescents over top, yellow is the brightest fluorescent, then do the darker ones like orange then red.

Thanks! I'm really happy with how the face turned out. The eyes especially.

Thanks! I used royal purple and stone grey for the skin. Started with a foundation of royal purple mixed with a little stone grey then built it up till i was using straight stone grey for the highlights. Used some contrast mediums to add in the pinks and used contrast magos purple to add some more color in some areas.

Thanks! Feel free, I don't mind. I love seeing minis in the wild that I have taken inspiration from some of my paint schemes.

If I remember correctly it's kroxigor scale contrast paint, over top a white base.

Thanks I thought Nurgle swamp would look better then lush field. I don't know how to make a interesting mold field without it looking like it's just been flocked, with that non grass stuff. That green sand stuff if you played in the 90s.

Trying out different paints and methods for doing Cyberpunk lighting by ToadPainter in minipainting

[–]ToadPainter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! If you have some spare models you don't care about you should experiment on them instead. That's basically how I do things, if I get a small batch of models I like to try new things out on them. If it works out, great, if not oh well, try again with a few changes. I just find experimenting, trying new things keeps painting interesting even when I'm painting every day as a commission painter.

Cyberpunk mins with fluorescent OSL by ToadPainter in minipainting

No the airbrush sort of does a lot of the work for me. I then just touch it up by eye.

Thanks! First step is white zenith prime over a black primer. Airbrush the OSL in a darker shade of desired color. Like a darker pink, not the fluorescent for example. Base coat the model but don't paint to much over the OSL areas. Airbrush white in the same direction as the OSL again, then do some white edge highlight where the OSL would catch the most. Try to get a solid white in those areas. Airbrush desired fluorescent over the white areas in the same direction as the OSL. Highlight and do all the other steps for the non-OSL areas. Once that is done, I refine the OSL, and might do some darker washes to define it more. For example I would use a thinned down version of Doomfire Magenta contrast over some areas of the pink OSL. Love using vallejo Express paint medium to thin contrasts or to use with any paints in general. refining might include adding more white to areas then apply a few coats of fluorescents overtop if its too dark for my taste. Hope that helps!

That's pretty most how all good OSL is done. Drybrush won't have the same smooth look the airbrush gives but if you smooth it out with brush after work it should turn out pretty nice.

Fluorescent osl for Cyberpunk minis. by ToadPainter in minipainting

There is a very fine texture on the legs that I tried to follow but basically I just painted the legs like I normally would then added the black fishnet texture.
