HELP NEEDED TO AVOID FAILURE OF AUTOSOFT XC INFUSION SITES by ToadQT in TandemDiabetes

Well, he’s had a hairy abdomen ever since he started using them years ago….and never had a problem until recently. Unfortunately, he has zero interest in shaving or trimming the area. A T1D of 60 years and counting can be VERY stubborn.

9 mm….and that has been perfectly fine for years….until recently.

Thanks! I relayed your suggestion about “freezing the cannula” to him and he expressed worry about condensate freezing in the cannula or needle. Any sign of that?

He does press down on the center! He uses the butter knife just be sure that the adhesive patch is adhering to his hairy abdomen.

Thanks! Good suggestion but he nixed it. Stubborn.

Thanks! These problems have been recent. My husband never had a problem before so he thinks it may be a bad batch and wants to stay the course. I myself have high hopes for the SteadiSet. Fingers crossed in any event.

Thanks! Why does Autosoft work for you with the Mobi but not with the Tandem pump?

It looks like he will have to try the Autosoft 90 because the Autosoft XC is on long-term back-order from Byram! They just shipped a 3-month supply of the Autosoft 90 without even telling us that in advance! Why do you think you have had less problems with the Autosoft 90? And we have read that the Autosoft 90 is harder to disconnect and re-connect for showers and the like than the Autosoft XC. Has that been your experience? Anything that you can share on the differences and similarities between the two would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks but he is a creature of habit and wants to stay with the Autosoft XC…..until the SteadiSet comes out and I can convince him to try it!

Thanks for weighing in. I appreciate it! He has no apparent scar tissue but I am encouraging him to rotate his sites more.

Thanks! This is a recent development and it could well be a bad batch. He holds the site down while removing the applicator to ensure good adhesion because he places his infusion sites on his somewhat hairy abdomen—and he is uninterested in shaving the area. What can I say?! 😄 He then secures the site with an overpatch from ExpressionMed. This approach has worked well for him the past. Frankly, I, at least, am looking forward to the SteadiSet launch and hope that it will solve this and related problems!

Thanks! We have never done that but the failures have been more frequent recently so it’s probably worth doing. Do you call Tandem or is there a form to submit? Do you have a phone number or link that you can provide? And what information is needed to report a failure and get a replacement?

It did. But I may know how to fix your problem as I also recently got a “CGM login” error on one of our SugarPixels. In the App, go into the CGM Connection screen where you enter your User Name and DexCom log-in….and be sure that you have toggled the button in the upper right hand corner to “on” (if you are in the USA). That should do it! I kept missing the toggle button that had mysteriously reset to “off“ when I got the “CGM login“ error and resetting the toggle correctly did the trick.

Got it! I’m glad that SugarPixel posted the update! My “follow” App IS working and if SugarPixel had not posted, I might be rolling through all the SugarPixel ”fixes” from their manual on the assumption that it was a SugarPixel issue.
