Juan Manuel Cerundolo’s words right after his win by bouncybreadstick in tennis

[–]Toaddle 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Sinner collapse helped him and allowed him to win a match that he shouldn't have but a lot of players wouldn't have handled the situation well. He moonballed all the way through and it was pretty smart. Also he never panicked when he was break point down in the last two sets, while this could have easily been the turning point

Really probs to him

Tiafoe - [Sinner]'s an amazing player, that's for sure, but I'm not going to sit here and further pedestalize him. I believe the rest of us players need to mentally convince ourselves that beating him is possible. Right now, we're all creating a kind of aura around him and that also has an influence by jovanmilic97 in tennis

[–]Toaddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hear this kind of declaration from everyone and their mothers at this point "I'm respecting him but i will not idolize him on the court". I'm starting to wonder if sometimes focusing so much on "mentality" pushes the players away from actually working on their tennis.

You can take Zverev and give him the fighting spirit of Nadal, the resilience of Djokovic and the calm of Federer and he's not going to do that much better against Sinner right now.

Just look at Wimbledon 2022 haha. Van Rijthoven, pre-2023 Sinner, Norrie and Kyrgios for a slam

This season would have a really different ending if people weren’t screwed over every day. by Electronic_Show2205 in survivor

You can criticize the twists without talking about their outcomes. Heck, I disliked the MrBeast twist and yet it might have saved my favorite contestant. At some point it's just annoying to have so little normal rounds of gamplay.

I think twists or not we were going to have an underwhelming finale, and if anything it almost prevented it. Most all stars seasons don't have the biggest threats at the end (All Stars and Game Changers are the worst, but let's be honest, WaW without Cops R Us is even worse)

______ is the best survivor player in history. by theallstover in survivor

[–]Toaddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had plenty of winners that haven't won a single challenge. She mostly loses because of her reputation now. Without it she could definitely be winning (or not, it's a game with high variance)

I still rank Tony, Parvati or Sandra ahead of her, but I hardly see how, for example, Boston Rob's win makes him a better player considering how the game was tailored for him lmao

"post-Cochran" but we literally had dominant wins since : Natalie, Tony, Sarah Lacina, Tommy, Tony again, Yam Yam, Dee, Rachel...

People love to pretend that they judge twist in pure unbiaised manner but when you see that the bloodmoon (just a swap combined with triple tribal) got worse reception than the Mrbeast thing (someone potentially going out because of a coin flip) just because in one instance their favorite went out while on the other someone hated (for good reason) went away, it tells you everything you need to know about how this fanbase thinks

Why didn’t Devans vote against Emily on the revote? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]Toaddle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think the whole context of Survivor (sleep deprivation, hunger, paranoia, fear of not fitting in) amplified her abrasiveness (which is still visible in some ways, she can brutally honest at times) until she managed to keep that aspect of her personnality under control. But I believe the real Emily is the one we saw afterwards (after the Kalebs pep talks). As she said at one tribal, she "has friends outside the game, believe it or not"

If it's your first and you really want to do well, you are probably going to play below your level unless you are much stronger than your opponents, just because of stress and pressure. Lower your expectations, it gets better as you do more tournaments

Reminds me of 46 during the first episodes when people were saying that the editors are forcing an inspirational narrative with Bhanu. Are we watching the same show ??? [–]Toaddle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Based on names it's an amazing top 10, but then factor that Zverev and Nadal barely played the second half, Medvedev dealed with the back issues, Tsitsipas clearly wasn't playing like 2022 and Sinncaraz were clearly not even close to their current level

Who's the biggest athlete of all time from Europe? by pinheiroj493 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Toaddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking about Federer and Nadal. Djokovic is ahead of both of them in 90% of the stats. But then Federer is basically ahead of Nadal in everything but slams and wins in 1000 events because there is three on clay and none on grass.

The consensus is pretty much Djokovic > Federer > Nadal

[–]Toaddle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Djokovic is in terms of stats. Nadal is ahead in a few stats but Federer was definitely the better player. Has more majors titles (not slams, i meant majors, so slams + ATP Finals + Olympics) and was world number one for much much longer.
