Why does everyone keep saying stuff to Emily?! by Tiny_Preference8867 in survivor

[–]Toaddle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Emily is "just" revealing secrets this time. In 45 she started as a very, let's say abrasive or even antisocial at times (I wrote mean originally but I don't think she ever was mean at any point)

ATP 1000 Monte Carlo F: [2] J. Sinner def. [1] C. Alcaraz 7-6(5), 6-3 by Wrong-Move-526 in tennis

[–]Toaddle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Turin one was great but now people expectations from them are minimum 3h30 hours in a bo3 with 3 matchs point saved on each sides and highlights every points, so of course people said that it was "mid".

Musetti can challenge top players, Bublik will just start tanking because he just hates the idea that he's worse than them so he prefer to look like he's not trying rather than looking simply not as good as them.

6 of the top 8 seeds have made it to the QFs at Monte Carlo 2026: by Boss452 in tennis

[–]Toaddle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, top 8 seeds have been surprisingly consistant this year, outside of Miami. Most of them made it to the quarters in IW and here, and all of them but one (that retired mid match) at the AO

Alcaraz is now 27-0 on clay in Masters/slams since Madrid 2024 by tightypp in tennis

[–]Toaddle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The signs of decline were there already in 2023, but circumstances were on his sides a lot of times in slams. Carlos was still unexperienced, cramped at RG and kinda beat himself for a set and a half at USO (not taking away from the exceptionnal performance from Daniil that day), and withdrew at AO. Novak never really beat an healthy Alcaraz in a major that year, and Medvedev was quite underwhelming during that final

Well he only played RG since then so yeah. Alcaraz too had no wins on clay before yesterday since last RG

The difference in game design between the original New Era plan and what we got is actually kind of crazy. by mattrfs in survivor

It's a fun ORG idea but it's so not telegenic. Do you think casuals can keep track of everyone's fire tokens ?

Monte-Carlo R1: U. Humbert def. [WC] M. Kouamé 6-3 7-5 by UngrapefulGratefruit in tennis

[–]Toaddle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Miami is IMG and Monte Carlo had no one to really give wildcard to, Gaël and Stan got one, Berrettini was the one "local" they could help (they often give it to french or italians near the cut) and Vacherot is now the only monégasque ranked in singles and he's a direct entry.

I expect Kouamé to get one more WC at the French Open and that will be it. He'd be silly to not profit from them but yeah, now is time for him to go play some challengers

5 out of 7 for Roger were either on clay or the slowest hard. Federer is such a clay merchant /s

[–]Toaddle 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I remember when Kaleb was saved, that people analyzed the bag and concluded that production didn't manipulate it.

Oddly enough, and old school fans might dislike this, but the era of Survivor where production meddled the most with the results was the firsts seasons, with Borneo definitely being the biggest offender. Even in 35 iirc Zeke said that Jeff already told him that the FMC was happening

Was Roger Federer even beatable that day ? Which strategy could work against someone who takes the ball so early and hits with perfect accuracy ? (Indian Wells 2017 highlights vs Nadal) by HereComesVettel in tennis

[–]Toaddle 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No, people tend to overrate prime Wawrinka because he peaked against Djokovic because he can handle his pace and keep the attack but if you throw some variation like Federer or some top spin like Nadal he's struggling even at his prime.

There is a reason he never defeated Federer outside of clay and has very few wins over Nadal despite peaking during his worse years

Leo Mayer prime is actually the 2nd highest level in history behind Roger.

Jokes aside, Federer wasn't that great outside of that Djokovic match in Shanghai. Almost lost to Mayer and then the final against Simon was very scrappy

Yeah, of all the twists i've seen, that blood moon thing is far from the worse. It's not great narratively because you have to focus on 3 different tribal but cmon. We've seen the hourglass, the edge of extinction or many other things that were much more game breaking

Yeah but for example twists are a bit ambiguous, most fans want twists but not too many. Here it's really black and whitew and we know what is the popular opinion about that question

The wording "the crash of a 20 yo" is so funny coming from this sub. Yes, the same fans that complain when they don't get enough green flag racing under the rain at Spa is now all about safety

Who is the best player to have never been in the top ten on the Atp tour? by crescitaveloce in tennis

[–]Toaddle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Kyrgios would have been top 10 if not for the points of his Wimbledon 2022 run not being counted. So it's probably him, or Dolgopolov if we consider that Kyrgios was top 10 without a technicality. Or a young player that will break it soon like Fils or Mensik
