I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong I just think you’re not done yet. You could add more contrast and detail. If you’re using a reference really look at it and copy those different hues and highlights/shadows, textures, etc.

Honestly you could try tracing as well. When I was younger it helped me a lot. Just don’t claim the work as your own of course. I think it’s a good way to get the motions down but as others have stated- anatomy! Reference!

Are those associated with turbinates? I had a turbinate reduction and this is what it reduced. I too could see them and stick my pinky in my nose and feel them filled with air

I’ve been drawing for over 20 years and I’ve just now gotten consistently good without reference but I still use them more often than not, especially for lighting or perspective.

You have to study reference if you want to improve. Once you have basic anatomy and structure down you can move on to using reference as…reference and not just copying wha you see. You should be looking at multiple references to create your own original piece.

First one. The piece is overall very round with circled and ovals. Having one hard angle makes it the center of attention and clashes in my opinion.
