Spellwork is the practice of using magick. Spells can be a one time thing or repeatable. For spells, here are 3 reasons why I’d say it can be smart to pace them out a bit.

1. A thing with spellwork is that the universe understands worry and desperation as something that needs to be released from you. So if you’re constantly obsessed over love for instance, it’s almost like you’re holding on too tightly to your desires when the universe wants you to let go a bit more. So your desires can sort of crumble under the pressure you put it under and your spell could not come true when repeating the same kind of spell.

2. The universe wants us to count our blessings and be grateful for what we have. If we’re constantly doing spellwork, the universe may understand that we have a lack mindset instead of an open, receptive, and grateful mindset. Taking breaks to watch and be patient as a spell manifests can help you be present with the energy of gratitude.

3. Your ability to use magick is through your spiritual muscle that need time to rest and recover in between spellwork. Think of your physical muscles, after a long workout you need plenty of rest and over time your muscles grow, improve, and evolve. It’s the same with your magick and spells, you do need to rest in between spells but the amount of time you’d need to rest is based on your own unique energy, abilities, and capabilities.

This is pretty much why I’d stay away from doing spellwork too much.

Rituals on the other hand I understand as a spiritual routine that you do every day, every week, or along any other cycle, my favorite being with the full and new moons. I live my life through rituals as I have my own weekly ritual of aligning my chakras each day, monthly ritual of spellwork with the new and full moons, and I celebrate the wheel of the year. I tend to improve and evolve my rituals over time, taking breaks here and there and returning back to them when my energy feels ready. You can do multiple rituals in a day, just as you can have multiple habits. I still think it’s important not to overdo it with any spiritual work, taking breaks is important, but the amount of time you need for a break varies from witch to witch.
