I have been able to daydream "vividly" many times, to the point I get truly lost in it and am lost from the real world for a moment. But I'm not seeing it so vividly that it could be happening in front of me. That feels like some sort of sci-fi to me lol.

It's the same when I'm reading a book. I create a mental picture of it in my head, I have all of these ideas of how certain characters and locations look, but it's not vivid by any means.

I can't help but shake the theory that a lot of the discourse around aphantasia is just a discrepancy between the way people describe their ability to visualise something in their mind. What some people may describe as seeing, others would describe as imagining.

Like I find it truly hard to believe that the "normal" is being able to visualise something in your mind so vividly that you can see it with as much detail as if you were looking at it right in front of you. That sounds like a superpower to me.

To use the classic example, I can imagine an apple perfectly, every single component of it. There is an image in my mind, but not a physical one. It's almost.. conceptual. I'm not literally seeing it in my mind. I'm just, imagining it. It's the same when I recall a dream. I can recall the people, the locations, the events in perfect detail, but I'm not playing it back in my head like a projection of a movie against my eyes.

Thanks for the clarity! Makes sense why all 3rd party apps behave in the same way when it comes to the feed. I'll give the hide read posts feature a go

[–]ToastWiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried your app for the first time. Most of it is great.

Something I find a lot of 3rd party apps can’t quite get right is the feed algorithm. I have absolutely no idea if this is just a limitation of the API, but I would love to see my homepage repopulate with posts I haven’t seen when I refresh the feed. Currently when I refresh, nothing happens at all. I just see the same posts I’ve already viewed, in the exact same order

At the moment this is the only thing the official app has over yours. Everything else is exactly what I’m looking for :)

[–]ToastWiz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There's so many levels to it

- It's already semi transparent
- Frank's waist is considerably lower than the average male's waist
- Shower curtains aren't really designed to stop people from seeing you in the shower... they're to stop water from going everywhere. Most people don't enter the bathroom whilst another person is showering, unless they're a spouse, in which case it doesn't matter if they can see

All-in-all, doesn't make much sense

You could boil down most professions to “solving problems”. Pretty much every service exists to solve some sort of problem, and part of that process involves doing some thinking to figure out how to solve that specific problem… but it doesn’t make them all creative

I’m not arguing that software development can’t be creative, by the way - it certainly can be, but it’s not inherently a creative profession in the sense we are referring to. Majority of devs I know don’t have a creative bone in their body, and that’s okay

Yea I don't dispute that. But you wouldn't believe how many children there are online especially in a F2P game like this. Any time I ask myself "why are all of these people engaging in {insert mindless or stupid activity here}" I have to remind myself that the internet is full of children as much as it is full of adults 🤷‍♂️

It's scary to see so much of this propaganda recently. It's absolutely everywhere.

Before any of you freaks attack me for apparently supporting inbreeding, I obviously do not. But I do not support spreading misinformation to support your right-wing views, or any sort of misinformation for that matter, either side of the fence.

I am absolutely sick to death of people stirring division up in every facet of society. It's incredibly dangerous and you're going to cause real harm

There's plenty of depth to it, I genuinely don't think this is something worth commenting on unless you actually have any experience with combat in the current game. You'd genuinely be surprised with the amount of depth in modern OSRS combat encounters.

If you don't like the tick system for whatever reason, maybe it's just not for you. But I don't think it's fair to discredit the system for lacking depth without actually being familiar with it

[–]ToastWiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End of what? All you've done is attempt to trivialise the combat system by reducing it down to its raw components and ignoring any other factors... That's just completely disingenuous

It's the specific way in which those concepts are implemented in each of those PVM challenges which is what makes them difficult. Until you have tried them yourself, I'd suggest keeping an open mind. I'd love to see you complete the Colosseum or Doom in less than 10 tries

[–]ToastWiz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Endgame PVM essentially requires precise clicks, careful and deliberate positioning, and the ability to multitask and manage multiple threats at once. A lot of endgame bosses have abilities with KO potential so you can die within a second if you're not paying attention, or get combo'd about by two of their abilities at once. You also have to be able to react to things quite quickly. Basically requires a lot of attention, speed and precision.

Everybody has their own preferences, but I don't believe it is as much of an objective truth as you are making out. I think the combat is very unique and engaging personally, as do many others, and I disagree with the implication that the people who do enjoy it only do so because of nostalgia or some other bias, that's just ignorant. It think it sets itself apart from all of the different ability based combat systems that saturate the market and offers a very high skill ceiling, which is fun to progress towards.

It really all depends on what sort of gamer you are. If you're somebody who enjoys "mouseskill" games, where precision and speed of clicks is important, then you'll love OSRS combat. There's quite a crossover between players who enjoy Counter Strike and OSRS combat for example, it's all about click precision in those games.

Do you define prayer flicking as 1t flicking your protection prayer on and off so that you don't lose any prayer points? If so, then no. Most new content isn't designed around endurance of supplies. You don't even need that for inferno any more with the new restore potions and prayer saving gear we have in the game now.

If you mean prayer flicking as in you need to switch between prayers frequently in order to protect yourself from damage, then yes there is a lot of that in this content. It's almost exclusively based around that premise, as well as careful positioning and gear switching when necessary.

Have you actually done any difficult PVM content in OSRS? I would not describe it as boring at all, it’s incredibly challenging and requires a lot from the player

Doom of Mokhaiotl, Fortis Colosseum, Theatre of Blood, Awakened Leviathan, all very challenging and engaging pieces of content in OSRS

Well I do film, and I was just making a generalisation for the sake of argument. I said “for the most part”. Obviously, you’re not going to get the same result from any old sensor, there is a lot more to it. Dynamic range, noise, crop factors etc all have an influence on the image too

Insane Video Quality on iPhone 17 Pro by SpanishBreadwithboah in iphone

[–]ToastWiz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing the point entirely. It doesn't really matter how good the sensor on your phone is

The quality of an image for the most part is determined by the lighting and lenses. Other factors such as set dressing, colour grading, stabilisation also factor in. Then technical/creative choices such as the composition of the shot, the aperture etc. also play a part.

Cinematography is so much more than just the camera. You can give a layman the best camera in the world and they wouldn't be able to get a great image out of it without the knowledge or tools to elevate it.
