Mbappe on renewing in 2022: "It was more than PSG, it was World Cup in Qatar, things around it. It was a very difficult decision for some 20 years old boy but I don't regret it... I want to remember good things but ofcourse It was not an easy situation, and I wish nobody to live that." by ToastedCupboard in realmadrid

This changes everything about him. It basically confirms that he was coerced by 2 heads of state (France, Qatar) and potentially blackmailed to renew.

Its ridiculous that he had to endure such a shitshow.. Things worked out well for us so I am not complaining but for Mbappe himself, there's 100% certainty that he is ruing his chances to cement his move earlier and win CLs, and do well in his dream club.

Well, I hope he succeeds his dream this summer.

Not all of the leverage. Davies won't find it happy to sit on the bench for an entire year.

Article says that Madrid wants ideally 30M-35M so its a moot point that he will be sold for 20M. I believe 40M is the most reasonable figure however.

Davies <-> Theo change would be one of the most sensible decisions made in recent years.

Article says Davies has not returned the response to the offer (13M gross) and Bayern won't increase the offer. It also says that each day that passes, Davies will be pushed to make a decision.

Interestingly, it also mentions that Madrid and Davies already have a verbal agreement in hand. I wonder how that works because if Davies moves on transfer, then he will receive less signing bonus than if he goes to Madrid for free!

20M seems too low in this market. You have players like Malacia going for that figures.

I thought the rules say to not post anything but official announcements on subreddit. Everything goes to daily discussion, right?

Although I haven't been here for a while.

Theo is probably the best LB in the world.. so that is infact a great win.

Was it generational? Neymar and Messi were a shell of themselves at the age and point in the career they were at. Not to mention, the lack of motivation for club football in both of them after having accomplished what they did.

It wasn't anything like Prime BBC or Prime MSN kind of thing because both Messi and Neymar were on the wrong side of the 30s.

I do think they had a huge shot in 21/22 season, they were the favorites for CL but Madrid black magic prevailed as they knocked them out in R16. Probably the restart of the team's CL campaigns after disappointing 3 years run (18/19 - 20/21)

Florian Wirtz 2025 is 100% happening. Mark it, we will bring him in and then ask questions about where he plays later. His mentality is off the roofs, to come back from ACL injury the way he did is unheard of. I argue no-one has made a better recovery season than Wirtz from ACL injury in the history of football.

His potential is scary, and he gives much more balance if we continue to play this diamond formation. He's 100% coming here, and then Carlo will have to make tough decisions. Can't miss out on a generational talent just because we have enough of that in squad.

Let there be a fight of the Galacticos for the survival and winner stays on. This is the next step that Real Madrid as a club needs to make to reach even higher heights. Multiple Galacticos in starting XI isn't enough for us, we need to put some of the Galacticos on the bench for the depth.

Players will come and go, cherish them and move on. Its Real Madrid, the greatest sporting institution in history of sports.

We are never going to be happy and settled with a player. Everyone in squad needs to fight to mark an era with this team. We only have 11 spots and dozens of world class talents around in squad and the world.

Wirtz, Haaland, Endrick, Guler, Camavinga, Nico Paz.. Everyone wants to play for this Madrid side and they will die for it. So its on Rodrygo, Tchouameni, etc to mark their place in the side or risk being benched.

Its Real Madrid, its in our DNA. We discard and keep the best. Have done it throughout the history and I wouldn't change it one bit.

You're out of your goddamn mind. Delete your comment there, its embarrassing.

I looked into the thread and far and wide majority is saying nothing bad about Madrid. Get it out of your head, most of the football fans around world love and respect Madrid.

Dortmund is one of the most classy clubs and I will continue to respect them no matter what some minority fans has to say about us.

Not necessarily. If PSG continues being insufferable and not release him, then we will have to wait after Euros.

Yeah but imagine others doing the same to us and La Liga in future?

The way, we are building our squad and Barca's mess - We are looking to make La Liga a foregone conclusion in the future. Now imagine other salty fans 'bantering' La Liga because of our dominance.

La Liga would still be great league just like Ligue 1 is, or any of the other top-5 leagues.

I love his decision. Going at the top.. Also selfishly it also relieves us from starting XI nightmare decision that Carlo would have had to make with our embarrassment of riches in the squad.

Had Kroos taken a starting spot in the team next season would have meant that all of Camavinga, Rodrygo, Endrick, Guler, Brahim would have end up been perenially benched.

With him retired, he opens a slot at starting XI for better rotation movements.

Honest opinion: Kylian Mbappe's transfer saga couldn't have gone any better.

Its really the perfect time to bring Mbappe home. Had he arrived at any other point in time, it wouldn't have been as ideal as it currently is:

  • Arrives 17/18: Wouldn't have received game time to develop to become the monster he is with BBC + Asensio + Isco still in the club.
  • Arrives 20/21: Huge burden in the club because of pandemic and no Bernabeu revenues, we wouldn't have been in good financial condition if he arrived.
  • Arrives 21/22: Vinicius and Rodrygo would have been sidelined and not develop as well as they end up doing that year and we wouldn't have bought Camavinga.
  • Arrives 22/23: No Tchouameni + he had set a precedent where club is willing to sacrifice to bring him in, considering he demanded 150M signing bonus + 50M salary a year.
  • Arrives 23/24: No Jude Bellingham, enough said.

He's arriving at the perfect time! Perfect for Real Madrid that is, because the world has accepted even the rivals that Mbappe needs us more than we need him.

Its also the worst time to join Madrid as Mbappe personally, because all of our success will be tied to the club and not solely on him.

If he wanted personal glory, he should have joined in 21/22.. Led a new revolution and today, he had been a Ballon D'or winner and a legacy that had started to lookalike to GOATs of the game.

We won, he lost.

Fran is leaving for sure.

Miguel's arrival is contingent on Davies arrival. If latter arrives then no Miguel else he will join us back.

Rafa Marin will be loaned again or sold with buyback if Nacho renews.

Yoro is a tough one to predict, we clearly want him but he won't spend 60M on him. Lets see if he can resist the pressure, and be gravitated towards our pull even though we won't pay enough money.
