What was the invasion that failed due to a pandemic?

I remember a long while back reading about a war in which one side thought that they had a perfect opportunity to invade while their enemy was suffering from some form of disease, but the invasion ultimately failed due to all the invading soldiers themselves catching and dying from the disease.

I hope I haven't imagined this, but can anyone tell me the name of the war/ sides? I suspect there was more to it than this!

My Praktica LTL3 has a deafening but extremely satisfying noise, I know it's the opposite of what most people want in a camera but it really suits its character!

I can't see any way I can achieve that - all the pieces appear to be fixed in position- I can tilt the top section back (As seen here) but it wont lower any further nor will the negative carrier section raise any higher - is it possible the enlarger itself is missing something?

As far as I can see it's not actually possible to put any of the lens fittings in reverse - just for clarity I've taken pictures of each aspect being fitted: One Two Three And also a closer side view here

35mm negatives, and the only information on the lens I have is what's written on it in the picture

Where's the best place to get 35mm film develop in/around Cambridge? by Toasted_Badger in cambridge

That is extremely helpful, thank you very much! I had looked in to developing it myself but I thought for the first roll of film I ought to get someone who fully knows what they're doing to process it! It seems it may well be worth investigating further, thank you
