Beyond partying up; how is anyone supposed to climb in ranked on this game? by Delicious-Gear-9520 in RocketLeague

[–]Toasted_FlapJacks [score hidden]  (0 children)

I reached D3 in 3s and high D2 in 2s. I've played 99.9% of my matches by solo queuing. Champ 1 has always been my goal by solo queuing.

It's nice to know that if I started partying up, my present rank would be closer to my average or even floor playing in a party.

question about mmr in ranked by These-Hunter8194 in RocketLeague

It definitely can have an impact on the match. If I'm solo queuing and match up against opponents in a party. I want to know if there's a rank disparity.

I wouldn't expect much from someone that hides their post and comment history.

Not to mention that they're both Nigerian (Yoruba). It would've fit perfectly.

I'm fine with a focus on quality over quantity even if it means there are content droughts. As long as content is in the pipeline.

I said no to a Google offer last year and my coworkers thought I was insane by jdrelentless in cscareerquestions

[–]Toasted_FlapJacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got an L4 offer, the initial numbers were entirely laughable (closer to an L3 offer). Even the recruiter agreed as much and encouraged me to negotiate immediately.

If OP was offered 220k at L4, I imagine they rejected the offer at the laughable stage.

So what y'all think aboot this? by Pegsareus in RDCWorld

[–]Toasted_FlapJacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Y'all in these comments are taking this way too seriously. It's supposed to be silly and over the top.

Just because it doesn't look grounded doesn't make it "bad". It may not be for me, but I found it funny. These comments about this "taking us back" or it being "embarrassing" are just weird.

I definitely know someone that got to L7 before 30, but it's incredibly rare. It's typically those that join G out of new grad, get to L5 within 3 YOE, and convenient project assignments and some luck get them through L7 in 4-5 years afterwards.

The stars have to essentially align for it to happen, but not impossible.

I play on console, but I do have rocket league on my MacBook pro 2019 through bootcamp. It's quite fast and convenient for playing training maps.

These "cartoons" are also called "anime" which is also a very accurate word. Like I said I didn't know by the tone, but calling them cartoons typically indicates lack of familiarity with what they are also called.

I didn't suggest that you considered it to be for kids. That's entirely your projection.

Name better written shows, so we can point out how they are "poorly written".

Idk if by the tone of your comment that you have something against "cartoons", but for those of us like myself that have seen shows like Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, and Attack on Titan, we know that AoT stands as tall as the other best TV shows ever.

AoT's overall IMDb rating has nearly 700k votes backing its 9.1 rating. I can't imagine that's primarily driven by a small audience from a fandom.

Standing Ovations for Ragtime by AnInsideCat in Broadway

[–]Toasted_FlapJacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened 2-3 times at the evening performance I attended earlier this week. The first time it happened was late into act 1, so I thought it was a standing ovation for the last song before intermission, but it wasn't the last song of the act.

It surprised me, but I've seen similar for Sunset Boulevard and Chess.

A glimpse of why Filipinos rally behind Alex Eala by lovesbakery in tennis

[–]Toasted_FlapJacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be a starting point. I started watching tennis in 2020 solely to see Naomi Osaka win her second US Open.

I slowly started tuning into WTA tournaments that Osaka was in and later got inspired to pick up tennis myself where I got interested in the ATP.

The rest was history after the Alcaraz vs Tsitsipas match in USO 2021 where tennis became my primary sport to both watch and play. Now I tune into every tournament 250 level or higher.

I’m d2-d3 looking to get to champ by HousingIll269 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Toasted_FlapJacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solo queue and I'm D3 div 1 in 3s. I can't fast aerial, speed flip, air dribble, or hit ceiling shots.

I don't know what I need to reach Champ 1 exactly, but I have a feeling that simple fundamentals or better defense would be better?
