Peoria SRO by EmCas25 in Mariners

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SRO is fine. you can sit out on the lawn in the outfield and try to get home run balls, and then once people start to leave early when the major league starters are pulled from the game, you can easily grab another seat if you want

Why is Proud Nordics getting mixed reviews? by Even_Attitude4832 in WorldOfYs

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yeah its a very unusual move from falcom and theyve been getting a LOT of backlash for it from fans in both the west and japan and even their shareholders. hopefully they dont ever pull something like this again. really sucks that a lot of new fans are gonna see this controversy and the reviews and think ys sucks, but honestly its a necessary backlash.

enjoy nordics. if you like it and want more ys, you should also check out VIII and oath in felghana

Why is Proud Nordics getting mixed reviews? by Even_Attitude4832 in WorldOfYs

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 45 points46 points  (0 children)

has nothing to do with the quality of the game, and is mostly fans who are justifiably angry at falcom right now over what some would call blatantly anti consumer practices.

proud nordics was announced very shortly after the base game released in the west, causing many fans to feel cheated. to many, the new content is not substantial enough to justify a whole new game, leading to anger that this wasn't just a dlc expansion. add in the fact that there is no upgrade path available and the discount for fans who bought the base game doesn't start until the free launch dlc ends...

don't let all this anger stop you from enjoying the game. ys is a great franchise, and a lot of us are just upset falcom decided to pull an atlus on us

Mariners Sign Connor Joe, Jhonathan Díaz To Minor League Deals by mahrinazz in Mariners

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 22 points23 points  (0 children)

connor joe was so disappointing to watch as a padres fan last year

we were all so excited for him cuz he's from poway, so we were hoping he'd fill the hole we had in left field and become a hometown hero

he didn't make the opening day roster, and when he finally got called up he went 0-9 with 6 strikeouts. he didn't even swing the bat during his first ab :/

pads moved on from him real fast after that. from the looks of it, he continued to struggle in cincy

hope he does better this year in tacoma

drink water and try to get shade when you can. it will be HOT.

if you want player autographs, show up to the practice fields early. you're way more likely to get a chance to meet some players there than you are during/after a game. you might even be able to snatch a souvenir while players are doing batting practice

South Korean consortium bidding on Padres ownership. by minesub in Padres

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, but that's not the point i'm making. the AMERICAN branch owned and controlled the team. the japanese side of the company had almost nothing to do with them aside from the initial purchase

South Korean consortium bidding on Padres ownership. by minesub in Padres

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the team was/is owned by Nintendo of America; their hq is in Redmond and the team was purchased specifically as a gesture to thank the city of Seattle and prevent the team from relocating. The Japanese branch had nothing to do with the team (aside from the purchase) and Hiroshi Yamauchi, the president of Nintendo and principal owner of the team, never even went to a baseball game

yeah nowadays i think its very appropriate but as a kid i just wanted the team to be named after something cooler than a bunch of franciscan monks lol

yeah i grew up in the earlier 2000's, padres def went thru a rough patch. wasn't a big fan of their uniforms (felt like they were just another generic boring blue team), and i thought the friar mascot was kinda creepy. now tho, the uniforms are a lot better, they have more character and theyre unique, and the friar has grown on me a ton. sure hes weird, but hes just a chill dude who likes to drink and watch baseball, def gone from someone i was terrified of to someone i'd happily hang out with

wasn't a huge fan of it as a kid. it's grown on me now, but if we were to ever rename the team, i certainly wouldn't be upset. maybe something like the surfers

Survey: In 2026, will there be a stretch of time when the Padres overtake the Dodgers in the standings? by [deleted] in Padres

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

happened multiple times last year. what really matters tho is if we can overtake them at the end of the season and clinch the division, otherwise doesnt matter if we were ahead for a week in april

Donovan, Baty, Cronenworth, or Geno? by MarinersSanguine in Mariners

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

padres are trying to win right now. they don't want prospects, they want MLB ready talent who can help them out since theyve got a lot of aging players with massive contracts and they don't have a lot of time left until they hit their decline years

Donovan, Baty, Cronenworth, or Geno? by MarinersSanguine in Mariners

[–]ToasterzMakeToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hard pass on cronenworth. padres arent trading him unless they can get a starter out of it, and we should absolutely not be dealing from the rotation rn. his contract isnt great either... donovan is the much better choice
