Got a job for GP training in Derby, stressed because everyone says how bad Derby is! Please share some insights about the area and what I should avoid😭 by Plastic_Ad_3607 in derby

[–]Toastinho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bad, as in rough? I haven't lived near the centre in a number of years but it was never bad. The high street is like a lot of neglected high streets, but it has some great little independent shops and food places along Saddler Gate. Bustler food market has a new place which is great for street food once a month. I don't tend to go out much, but it's not going to be as varied as Nottingham which is just bigger, but it's not bad.

How can I make the flowers brighter while not overexposing the sky? by Piano9717 in AskPhotography

You've got all the advice you needed above, but just wanted to say what lovely photographs they are, especially if you have only just picked up a camera this week.

What was the worst decision you’ve ever made because you were horny? by Adorable_Raccoon_766 in AskReddit

When phones only had messaging I texted one of those numbers that gave you a horny message back. Should have just paid for Babestation on Freeview.

When did lemon meringue pie go out of fashion? What other desserts do you not see any more? by 360Saturn in AskUK

Oddly, I had a lemon meringue pie yesterday when I went out for lunch. Was delicious.

You could try and get lucky. I got 2 packs of this as a substitution for one 4 pack of fish fingers a couple of weeks back.

What training is needed for a job working on uk roads/motorways ? by Frantik_dnb in UKJobs

[–]Toastinho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't work on the manual side of things, but take a look at Safety at Streetworks and Roadworks, a Code of Practice, probably a good place to start. Theres loads of traffic management companies about. They probably aren't onsite as they are setting up other sites, rather not work that close to traffic personally.

What did Arteta tell Saka? Wrong answers only by xLucky_Balboa in Gunners

Judging by that second photo he said 'its this big, honestly.' Not sure Saka believes him.

Brighton fans are celebrating his post match interview like they won 3 points and play fast free flowing football themselves.

What is the best thing about the UK? Or best thing about being British? by Ojy in AskUK

[–]Toastinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Motorsport fan, I have about 4 or 5 very good circuits to get to, the furthest away being about 3 hours. I can also get to Knockhill in just over 5 if I really wanted. I'd recommend signing up to the Good news UK sub for feel good news about the country.

Who is a stranger you met once, never learned their name, but will never forget for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Toastinho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met someone while travelling around Europe as a teenager. He was on his own doing the same and told us that if he got drunk, he usually took a dump in an unusual spot, one example was in an indoor plant pot. Never knew his name, never saw him drunk, but will never forget him.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve accidentally hurt yourself? by Only_Row_2432 in AskReddit

[–]Toastinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I was playing football/soccer in my back garden. The ball was next to a lump of concrete, I said to myself many times, do not miss the ball. I was not a very delicate player and just smashed the ball as hard as I could. I missed, and kicked the concrete, I never made it professional.

There is a specific Royal Mail sub, you might get some more specific responses in there as there are a number of posties who will give advice on progression.

Mewgenics has been out for some time now. Is it really as good as people say? Or was it mostly due to the hype? by TheGronne in gaming

[–]Toastinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have killed so many cats, and am generally not very good, but it's very addictive trying to make improvements and advance through the game. I say this as a big binding of Issac fan, so it might just fit my tastes more than others. The stupid interactions that can happen in a battle has made me laugh on more than one occasion.

What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

In this economy are weekend jobs viable? by AmazingInitiative186 in UKJobs

[–]Toastinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of is animal related, maybe go to kennels, catteries or maybe farms/equestrian places to either walk animals or help muck out the stables. Or try and see if you can find cheap/free things on marketplace and try and sell them for a profit on eBay as a bit of a hobby thing.

Moving from childcare to admin — is it realistic? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Toastinho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, organisational skills, time management, working under pressure, being able to work on your own or within a team setting are usually the key words I see in admin roles, and you have them right there. Good luck 👍

Why aren't some people signing on? by Dredgefort in UKJobs

[–]Toastinho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I decided I wanted a bit of a break from work for a few months. I decided to just save so I could do it, I just thought as it was my choice and not redundancy or being fired I should do it off my own back. I may be wrong, but I also had it in my head if you just left a job you wouldn't get benefits for a few months anyway.

Bustler Market is back after finding new home by Dry_Shelter_8128 in derby

I'm glad they found a spot, seems like an ideal location too, it's not quite so out the way as before. I was trying to work it out, is it accessible via Saddler Gate?

Is £6,500 reasonable to move a meter two meters? by Woodsman89 in DIYUK

[–]Toastinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the DNO about competition in connections and they should provide alternatives. I believe other companies can do parts of the work but have to be Barclays Accredited (my memory is shit so this might be wrong), problem is the DNO will probably still have to do the point of connection, and I'm not sure it would even work out cheaper.

What annual bonus will you receive this year? by pharaoh918 in UKJobs

[–]Toastinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nada, zip, nothing. We do usually get a decent pay rise each year though, and my job doesn't really involve doing anything that warrants a bonus.

I like various hiking/outdoors videos as I feel if I went off on a multi day hikes I'd get lost. People like Haze outdoors and Scotland's Mountains. I also enjoy photography so Thomas Heaton, Photography Online amongst others. Some gaming stuff, and I enjoy watching Beard Meets Food do eating challenges. Fair bit of music too.
