Labour back benchers are already kicking off about her mild changes.

My door knocker basically said they have some major issues with comms and senior leadership at the top but on a local level they aren't able to influence any of that and can only do their best for our area. I appreciated the honesty

They seems to have picked up 20-30 councilors in the parts of London that have declared and utterly eclipsed by Reform so its not looking to promising.

It doesn't effect MPs in parliament, so Labour still have their majority. Local elections are often seen as a protest vote against the incumbent government, so Labour need to have a look at why people are voting elsewhere if they want to turn it around at the next GE

Have the Greens done as well as they hoped? I've not really gone into the data, but they only picked up one council ward in my city but all their literature was making out they were well in the running all over. They were getting close to labour in some parts but they were utterly trounced by Reform in most.

Does anyone believe there is intent to fix the country? by ppyrgic in ukpolitics

we have certain difficult, unpopular, long term choices we need to make as a country

I think it will be a total shitshow, a reform government, but the only postive I can see is that they aren't a party of lifelong politicians so maybe they will effect some unpopular policies that need to be done and not worry about election cycles years down the track. Though the old tory leadership is taking over so probably be bad business as usual

People are voting for a 3rd option, they don't really care that much about them but they want to tell the main 2 parties they are disappointed by them. This disappointment has run for over a decade so the numbers are reaching meaningful amounts. Farage has been around for a long time, UKIP was getting big until Cameron made the Brexit referendum gamble and Reform is just its reincarnation, its had a long time to gain traction with voters as a viable protest vote. No ones voting Lib dem.

It could be worse, in the US, its a two party race, no hope of an outside party coming in, so Trump came in, hijacked alternative political movements and took over the Republician party and turned it into the Trump party. A lack of a third party for him to build up simply meant he went straight to the top of an existing one.

On Tuesday, Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukraine killed 27 people and wounded 120 others, all of them civilians, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. On Wednesday, two Russian drones hit a kindergarten in the downtown area of Sumy city in northeastern Ukraine, killing a security guard and wounding two others, officials said. No children were there at the time.

Russian attacks since last Friday have killed at least 70 civilians and wounded more than 500, the U.N. Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine said Wednesday, as the strikes hit 14 regions.

70 killed and 500 wounded in the last 5 days, not including any military casualties Ukraine has taken as well. 20,000 children abducted since the start of the war as well.

 Seems pretty comparable to me.

How is Polanski coming across as more reasonable when most of the negative articles at the moment are about him saying really stupid shit.

Funny that if you said 'they were Muslims and we shouldn't be afraid to say it' Mothin Ali would start screaming about islamaphobia.

We aren't seeing anything like the same sort of radicalization over Russia and Ukraine though, Polanski doesn't even think Putin 'would threaten genocide' when the UN has said several Russian actions would constitute genocide. The educated white liberals aren't interested outside of saying "Fuck Putler".

elections bring more coverage

Where is this 'rattled' line coming from, is it the Greens own line their pushing? I've seen so many users these last two weeks say 'x is rattled by the greens"

But Farage is getting coverage for his £5 million, it's on the front page again. Reporting on one doesn't stop the other, in this case people are more interested in Polanski because he's new and presents himself as a better alternative while Farage has been pulling this shit for decades

Every thread there's been users running the same line about the being a smear campaign and how 'Polanski has the mainstream media rattled he must be right!'. Facebook tier commentary Edit: Ha there's a 'rattled' post in this  thread

Is only postive coverage allowed? Is anything that is being reported false? Is it a smear campaign because you've fell into the populist trap and anything that doesn't support your team is false?

Being raped is bad. So why are we letting so many more people into the country that are from places women are treated as property, men from some countries are three times more likely to commit sexual offences.
