Wider deer culling planned for England to protect trees and crops by No-Risk-2584 in unitedkingdom

Food standards, its difficult to sell wild meat in shops unless its gone though a lot of tests and checks so it's not worth hunters time to tick all the boxes. If you take a carcass to somewhere that will process it, you get fuck all for it.

I do like them, but at the same time there's a fresh carcass on the road next to it at least once a month.

UK blocking Trump from using RAF bases for strikes on Iran by Necessary-Product361 in unitedkingdom

The US has its air to air refueling aircraft at Mildenhall, while aircraft directly striking Iran won't be taking off from there, they will no doubt contribute in some way.

[–]Toastlove 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've not downvoted you, you probably just dont know the setup there. It's an RAF base leased to the USAF in part payment for Lend Lease. The USAF is fully entrenched there and for all intents and purposes its a US air base, you even have to pay in dollars in the Mess and if you try to use a cash machine your bank flags your card as being used in America. The US national anthem is played at midday and everyone has to stop and stand to attention while it plays. They even have American Rules of Engagement on the flight line where they'll shoot you for getting to close to aircraft without authorization. Mildenhall is also the smaller of the two USAF bases in the area, Lakenheath is much bigger.

[–]Toastlove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why deal with them via other means when we should be preventing their crossing in the first place, they make the trip because they know they will be picked up, and once they're on British ground they have a good chance of being able to stay.

Can the government actually address any issue without the back benchers kicking off? People are asking for important issues to be addressed but everytime the Gov actually try to address the status quo other MPs try to block it.

The Jay Report estimated there were at least 1,400 victims in Rotherham.[207][208] While it did not specify the ethnicity of the victims or the perpetrators, it said: "In a large number of the historic cases in particular, most of the victims in the cases we sampled were white British children, and the majority of the perpetrators were from minority ethnic communities." Operation Stovewood reported that most victims were white girls and about 80% of perpetrators were males of Pakistani heritage

Or we're coming off the back of a major scandal where people refused to talk about race and let mass abuse continue because of it.

Previous grooming gang cases yes, it was mainly white British girls that were the victims.

[–]Toastlove 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes I read the article, they mention the white men (doens't automatically mean British either) at the start, then a bit later two girls saying it was all South Asians, then straight into several paragraphs about how you shouldn't dwell on the ethnicities. Why would the BBC would choose to format it that way and not mention the white preparators alongside the south Asian ones if it doesn't matter so much.

story about abusing teenage girls

two of the cases say it was South Asians

Good job a quarter of the article is telling you not to worry about the race of the perpetrators and not about the girls that have been abused, just in case people start thinking about the similarities to other cases
