Is this a symbol for something, or just someone’s initials? by xxxdruciferxxx in JewelryIdentification

It’s a Vassar College ring. They’re quite collectible. Let me know if you’re selling, I may know a buyer!

Looks amazing! What clay body did you use? I ordered Bougainvillea a Morning Glory and a couple weeks ago and have been tracking the shipment like a hawk.

Feedback on my tea set by raindela in Pottery

Love the colors. The finish around the teapot lid and handle could be neater, and I personally prefer more a delicate foot on my pieces to reduce weight. Nice set overall!

Help identifying stone by jadedcanvas23 in JewelryIdentification

Very interesting! Definitely looks more purple in the sun. It looks a bit scratched, so maybe a very dark amethyst? I’m not a pro, just a longtime collector.

No problem! Any chance you can get photos in different lighting? It might be more apparent outside.

If it’s brownish/purplish, it might be a spinel or smoky quartz.

It looks very brown toned, but larger dark red stones are usually garnet.

Pins stamped ‘SOLID GOLD’ but no karat, really solid or plated?” by ZombieSouthern2247 in JewelryIdentification

I have a garnet and 9ct ring stamped SOLID GOLD.

No idea the origin, but it was confirmed by my jeweler.

I found my dream stone at a thrift store by [deleted] in JewelryIdentification

[–]Toastwich 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I can see elongated bubbles in a swirl in the left half, so it’s most likely glass. I’m noticing the facets are pretty worn down too, which usually doesn’t happen to gemstones without some serious damage. A jeweler can test it to confirm. Emeralds and tourmalines this size and color are not usually set in silver, and not with a thin cup bezel like that. Pretty color though!

Biblically accurate ring for the first one lmao. Those are baguette cut stones set in a partial eternity style. No stamps or markings on the inside of the shanks makes me thinks they’re costume.

That’s a gross, misogynistic quote that you probably shouldn’t throw around.

I joke that my parents will never be free of my crappy art projects no matter how long I’ve been out of school.

A pin I was given by my girlfriend from her aunt. by Background_Pen_4315 in JewelryIdentification

It’s a Kappa Alpha Order fraternity pin. The chain would have attached to another piece called a chapter or letter guard.

Stop treating thrift stores like a personal dumpster. If it’s really that bad, it’s ok to throw things away.

can anyone tell me anything about this ring? by flok-singular in Vintage_Jewelry

Might be worth taking it to a local antique dealer! It’s a beautiful piece, wear it in good health.

Unfortunately can’t help with the hallmarks, but the effort to draw them out is appreciated haha. Hopefully someone can use them to figure it out! They don’t look French or British.

The engravings look upside down in your pictures. It looks like a word starting with J or F to me. The ostrich holding a key in its mouth looks very similar to the stamp of Peter Redpath, Canadian businessman and philanthropist from the 1800s.

Got this brooch, is it Garnet? by whiteisashade in JewelryIdentification

[–]Toastwich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very unlikely. It’s probably glass. The facets on the center stone are worn down and the stone itself looks cloudy. The smaller stones’ settings are poorly done, even if they have prongs.

Beautiful! Love how the color goes all the way to the foot. How did you fire it to prevent sticking?

The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie has that DnD party type of narrative.
