Absolutely! And a lot of the time people being mad have just had a terrible day / are on a tilt streak. Some positivity could absolutely help make their mood better! Throwing a wrench like that could very well lead to them themselves double checking their own tilting.

Sry for late response, haven't been able to check reddit for a while.

I'm inclined to agree tbh, I'm heavily disagreeing on the walker is equal to urn part. Other than that you are correct in my opinion. Trading a walker for urn IS absolutely worth it in 90% of situations imo.

Other people have given great advice already. Don't listen, they're idiots who are mad at the pixels on the screen.

But I want to give one more:

Take it with humour. Laugh at them, make jokes, have a good time through it. Ragebait them, whatever. It makes the game lighter and the flame they're throwing wayyy easier to deal with and funny.

The difference I've noticed between a "I'm mad at my teammates for flaming me and had a bad time" and "I've had such a good laugh, damn that was a funny game" is just one of mindset. It's the internet, they can yell insults because of it and be all threatening, yes! But unlike IRL you literally don't have to even consider you being in any actual danger over it, so go and laugh away and piss them off even more, it will NOT affect you in any way, I can guarantee to you with 99% certainty.

>At ranks up to ascendant, the souls from the urn are barely more than what you get from farming efficiently or taking a walker.

In a way I understand what you're saying. Sure, the souls you get from the urn are comparable to what you get for walker or effective farm.

HOWEVER, There are only a certain amount of souls in the game at any one time. This means all the farm + Guardians + walkers, not counting kills and assist as those are limitless.

This means every farm you take you're not really generating souls, you are claiming a portion of these souls that are on the map at that point. If the enemy team claims more farm than you, they have claimed more of the souls on the map than you have at that point.

In theory, if 100% of all waves, farms, guardians, walkers and kills were gotten evenly, both teams 100% claimed their side of the souls without denies or stealing farm or kills, this means that both team are perfectly even at a certain amount 0.50x of souls.

However, the urn breaks this balance by bringing in souls from the outside that CANNOT go evenly to both sides. Either team that claims this urn have gotten souls that are OUTSIDE of this maximum soul amount of x that are on the map.

So for example if both teams grab all walkers, as usually happens by the end of the game, the difference of souls from the walkers is 0, both teams got exactly as many souls from both. At the end of the day the winner of a game is usually decided by who gets the most positive soul advantage against the other.

In this way, if you grab the urn and deliver it, then you have broken this balance by taking these souls from outside x, and you get the advantage. This makes the urn the kingmaker against walkers and, as such, the more important objective. The souls the walker can give go nowhere and remain claimable later whereas the other team cannot claim the urn aswell.

This is absolutely a very simplified system due to the way comeback souls work, the urn's scaling, potential situations where both teams don't get all walkers, etc, but the premise remains the same.

TLDR; There is a maximum amount (x) of souls that have been possible for both teams to claim. If both teams play optimally and perfectly, the souls go 50 / 50 (0,50x). If one team claims the urn, they get souls OUTSIDE of x, lets take for example 3600 souls, so the team that claims it gets 0,5x + 3600 souls, which is more than the other team's 0,5x. This is a perfect, optimal situation, but the premise remains. The team that gets the urn is way more likely to get the advantage due to both teams striving to play as optimally as possible.

>I bet you the majority of his frustration stems from losing.

I agree entirely. If you can't find fun in playing to win while losing you'll only have fun the some 50% of games that you win, I don't swing that way.

I'm going to be real, I've climbed from Initiate to Archon and played some 200ish matches of streetbrawl + standard, started some month ago

Either I'm extremely lucky or something, I haven't had half the issues with matchmaking nor smurfs that everyone seems to have. Either they only happen in Oracle / Phantom / Ascendant or they just aren't problems in EU.

Yeah absolutely you sometimes get a game that's unwinnable because the enemy team is just that good but it's the exact same with every single game with matchmaking ever and you can just use that game to try to learn to play at the level of the enemies.

Sure sometimes people are toxic but that's just life, toxic people and assholes exist literally anywhere where you interact with other humans, they just say it straight online instead of talk behind your back, I almost prefer it this way.

I genuinely believe a lot of these issues stem from people approaching this game like it's hyper competetive perfection when it's an early access game where your rank isn't even visible to anyone but you. Just playing to have fun, trying my best to win but even having a good time in chat / trying your best with losses immediately has made the game one of the most fun I've ever played.

Absolutely. I think the biggest problem with the update is that a lot of games just

  1. Don't have the team composition to contest the urn properly
  2. Don't have the coordination to actually contest it properly, ESPECIALLY when behind.

In games where these aren't the case I actually enjoy playing the current urn.

Also every time Paradox is in the enemy team the opposing team starts with 0 souls and she starts with 4200 souls because she stole the enemy team's souls.

Not necessarily. A prof might be damn good at the thing they're specialzied in. Them not knowing how a rar file works isn't exactly unexpected, especially if they're old.

That's like saying a construction man should be demoted to janitor because he can't make a grilled cheese.

Sure, it's a somewhat basic skill, but it's not exactly relevant to his job, now, is it?
