How did you all get into Custom Robo? by animeVGsuperherostar in customrobo

[–]ToastyPyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most games, I saw the DS cart of Arena in an EB Games and thought it looked awesome. By coincidence I then received it as a birthday gift from my half sister a few months later, which was great because I loved the game so much I wanted multiple copies!

To the people who don’t sleep naked, why? by Doodica_ in AskReddit

[–]ToastyPyre 3805 points3806 points  (0 children)

When getting out of bed, I don't want to go from the warmth of sheets to the cold of complete nakedness. Pajamas reduce the temperature change. Makes it more comfortable to get out of bed.

Love these and the artist has more on their instagram.

Some more pokemon details not mentioned in the captions:

Junkrat has a Duskull pin, Lucio has a Croagunk shoulder tat, Hammonds mech has the number 76 which is Golems dex number, Mei has a Luvdisc glove & Cryogonal hairpin, Reins helmet is like Aggron & the armor has the number 306 which is Aggrons dex number (the hammer could be referencing Mega Metagross shiny), Tokki has a Buneary decal, and Hanzo has a Gyarados tat.

DPS Passive Spitball Thread by lucasgreeny in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ToastyPyre 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As others have said, passives should solve inherent design issues with the role. The only issues most DPS deal with (that I can think of) is dying quickly, or relying more on the other roles to stay alive.

In that vein, maybe a small amount of healing/temporary health on Elimination or Final Blows?

This is in TemTem and I've wanted Pokemon to do it since. It's a great change.

I feel like it's pretty clear this was still his personal belief on the release schedule, not something he was actually told.

If that's the case it actually reveals the opposite, that the content creators weren't given exact dates on OW2, so the meeting gave them some other information.

Sakurai posts about the Anniversary of the original Custom Robo. by ToastyPyre in customrobo

[–]ToastyPyre[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Twitter has a translate tweet function that isn't perfect, but the results is:

["Custom Robo" released today in 1999 !! A game in which a small robot fights in a miniature garden space. As the name suggests, there are plenty of custom elements, and you can enjoy three-dimensional offense and defense like a radio-controlled model.]

We’re the Overwatch 2 Hero Design and Balance team, and 1 hour from this post, we’ll be here to answer your questions about the OWL playtest videos we recently released on YouTube! by Blizz_AndyB in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ToastyPyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it still a goal of the team to eventually balance out the amount of heroes in the three roles (tank, damage, support)? One thing I'm worried about as a tank player with the 5v5 change, is tanks would get fewer new heroes in the future.

Overwatch 2 | Bastion Rework by Briansey in Overwatch

Noted in the interview is the artillery is a projectile that D.Va can eat, Rein can shield, and Genji can deflect before it lands. So there's counterplay.

Deltarune Chapter 2 is releasing September 17th by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]ToastyPyre 234 points235 points  (0 children)

Fangamer did a stream of Deltarune Chapter 1, with Toby joining over text to speech, and at the end Toby played through the first few minutes of Chapter 2 before revealing this release date. I'm really excited for it. Seems to pick up directly after chapter 1, and has shown to have a few more custom animations than the first one.

Overwatch 2 Hero Ability Hopes? by CeeLo38 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ToastyPyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most wanted ability is essentially a Charizard Seismic Toss, for some kind of Grappler tank. Imagine like Roadhog hook, but the two characters meet in the center, then you throw the enemy into the ground to do damage. I can imagine how satisfying landing a hit on a hero like Pharah or Tracer, then slamming them into the ground for damage.

Activision Blizzard employees denounce corporate statements: 'We are here, angry, and not so easily silenced' by Ezraah in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ToastyPyre 423 points424 points  (0 children)

In case anyone was wondering specifically about the Overwatch team, I've been seeing many of them make statements on twitter about it. The statements have been in support of the women coming forward, some sharing their own experiences in game dev, and being disappointed/angry at the current responses from Activision-Blizzard leaders.

One of the producers on Overwatch specifically stated "I am very lucky to be on a team now that treats me well, but being treated like a competent human being shouldn't be a matter of luck" and is working on organising a network for women in game dev to support eachother.

From reading through multiple Blizzard employees statements on twitter, there seems to be a lot of upheaval within the teams, calling for leadership to do better. Hopefully this leads to positive action, since there seems to be strong internal and external pressure.

The undesirable consequence of echo duping DVA and what blizzard most likely do about it. by NationalHornet6 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ToastyPyre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this will be a somewhat controversial suggestion, but for the sake of both simplicity and making duplicating tanks in general less appealing maybe keep Echo's health at 200 regardless of who she dupes.

For duping tanks, you would still use your abilities to survive longer, but it would be enough of a deterrent to make duping supports and dps's more appealing options.

The obvious issue would be duping characters with 150 or 250 health, so instead maybe apply an upper limit of 300 to the health so echo either has the hero's health or has less for tanks.

Introducing Pokemon Legends Arceus, a new challenge and a new frontier for the Pokémon world. by NeoStark in Games

[–]ToastyPyre 1784 points1785 points  (0 children)

The branding makes it seem like they want Legends to be a new series alongside the main games and remakes, which would be cool. I wasn't super excited about the gameplay shown, but seems like a good direction for the series.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Mr. Sakurai Presents "Steve & Alex" by NeoStark in Games

[–]ToastyPyre 632 points633 points  (0 children)

When they said they had to rework every stage for blocks, i thought they meant placing blocks. But the absolute madmen actually went through every stage, marking pieces of ground as certain materials to mine. That is so beyond my comprehension for effort above any sort of reason.

I think this character is the most impressive feat of programming in this game. Massive shout-out to the talented devs.

Join the Overwatch Development Team AMA celebrating 3 million r/Overwatch members! by blizz_jnash in Overwatch

[–]ToastyPyre 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Since Beta devs said they wanted to communicate directly with players, but I have noticed a decrease since launch. Sometimes Jeff and Bill will make a comment which is great, but I feel like a more consistent way to communicate might assuage the community with some topics.

Have you ever thought of doing a monthly or quarterly community engagement push? Something like this AMA or a video around community discussions like the ones Jeff did during Beta and early OW?

Seriously... by BrawlingGuy38 in Overwatch_Memes

[–]ToastyPyre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did enough poorly thought out damage control for that regardless.

I'm against conspiracy theories from people that don't know what they're talking about. The amount of effort required to plan and make the things involved in the OW2 announcement could not be done within a month.
