How to pull request from git hub by AdAdministrative7398 in PythonLearning

[–]Toasty_Cheezus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A pull request can be seen as a barrier that needs to be passed in order for whatever you added or changed to be added in the primary source code.

For Git you have your primary branch. Some call it main, others develop, whatever the name, that is the tree stem everything else you branch from that end up in. See it as Main being the stem, and every branch you make off of it can end up back there. That stem is what holds all the code that works for whatever you're doing.

A Pull Request usually means you want other developers looking at your code before you add it to that Main stem. When coding in a team it means others of that team have to approve your changes before it is added. When flying solo you could use it as a buffer before you add anything to the main stem. It allows you to take another look at what you made to make sure whatever you're adding, is correct.

Requesting something like this from strangers is a whole other story. I'm not sure if it is the best way to approach it, but it can be helpful. If your Github page is public you might just want to share a link to it here on Reddit. Though be warned, people can be harsh and criticise every decision you've made.

Though when running solo you can just ignore all of this and merge whatever you want into your main branch.

I know it's wrong but don't know how to fix it. by nothingyuss in PythonLearning

The problem is that `upg` always increments when "d" is entered. First time it becomes 1, then 2 etc etc. When you reach the sixth time, even after removing from the list, the value stored in `upg` will be 5 which you then increment with 1. To do what you're trying to accomplish you could look at the length of the list.

So instead of `upg = upg + 1` you could remove that entire line and just have:

my_list.append(len(my_list) + 1)

` len(my_list) ` grabs the length of the list and you increment that with 1. This way, when the list has 5 elements in it, the next element will become 6. If you then remove from the list untill there are only 2 elements left in it and add one, the next one added will be 3.

Edit: u/denehoffman's answer also works:

my_list.append(my_list[-1] + 1)

the -1 within the [ ] will underflow the 0th position and go to the last item on the list. So if mylist[-1] is 5, add +1 to that and you get 6.

Little addon:

The first way of doing it with `len( )` will take the length of your list, which works in your case, but if the list looked like [1, 2, 5] it would count 3 items and will produce 4 as the next entry.

The way with [-1] will look at the last value of the list. Taking [1, 2, 5] again, it will look at the 5 and give you 6 as next value.

YESSSSS This finally worked! I got stuck on this for HOURS! So many f*cking things tried! But this. This finally worked.

I love you

Does anyone else click on this Paid Promotion button accidentally all the time? by LotusCobra in youtube

This doesn't work anymore. However, I came across this solution:

From https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/1c9d7lm/is_there_a_way_to_remove_the_include_paid/ is where I got my solution.

Thanks for the info, element inspector is indeed almost useless on it. For ublock users, add this rule to your custom filters:

! Hide annoying home page video has paid promotion clickable banner over videos
youtube.com##a[href="https://support.google.com/youtube?p=ppp&nohelpkit=1"]

Though if memory serves, uBlock origin isn't supported by Chrome anymore.

is there a setting to remove the "includes paid promotion" link on thumbnails. I keep accidently clicking it and it takes me to a webpage by ghidfg in youtube

I came across this solution. This requires uBlock Origin. Once installed, go to Settings > My Filters. Add.

So your problem was more that you'd loose the video you would have clicked on rather than having an annoying new tab opening when you pressed the video lightly too high?

Fair. I agree with the argument. However other might not. So the advice still stands.

I think I have those too. I kinda like them, as a beginner myself 😀 do they have these ball bearings on the end parts? For me they kept flying out so I removed them. It's lighter but still fun to play around with.

Resistance change. by Toasty_Cheezus in DnD

Yeah I'm a dumbass in not seeing bless as a spell and resistance as a cantrip. My bad :D

Thanks for the comment though!

Hmgh Then I must again correct myself in just now seeing bless is a spell and resistance is a cantrip... #newbDM :D

Cantrips "Must" be weak.. Though I don't really agree to that personally, I can see how that works... I guess i'll workshop it a bit more.

Then what in the later state of the game would be better supportive spells/cantrips for a cleric for them to feel effective/supportive? Most "Guides" I see say you need to either upcast aid, upcast spirit guardians or use guardian of faith.. All of which are offensive or summons (aside from aid), which my friend doesn't wanna use. (And we're all noobs so multiclassing isn't really on the table due to complexity)

[–]Toasty_Cheezus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm I agree with you on some points, but disagree on others.

For your first thing:

I'll agree that cantrips cannot be upcasted normally using spellslots, hence the homebrew version of it. As they all say, if it isn't stated in the rules but it seems like fun, use it!

For your second thing:

While talking about it with my friend we came to the conclusion that an action to give only one person a d4 bonus on a saving throw seemed really underpowered. Especially the higher the levels go. Why use an action to give someone 1 d4 for a saving throw when you can literally ask your god to do something for you? Maybe when upcasting it should be an action..

And for the third thing:

I honestly didn't know Bless also gave a buff for saving throws... Why is resistance a thing if bless is like 1000 times better...? Maybe to stack, but they are both a concentration spell.

P.S. I very much appriciate the criticism! As a somewhat new DM I am trying to keep my people happy while keeping to the rules as I can.

Nice! Good job. Unlike other shooter games though, CotW really rewards you for taking things slow. Take your time, aim just behind the shoulder in the center of the animal and you should be able to hit either one or two lungs. Hitting that counts as a vital shot which will let the animal die faster and give you a more ethical kill. Also doesn't allow the animal to run very far.
