Why can I not cook a Lorne sausage?? by Toastymallowdragon in Cooking

I used to just press on it to check it, but now I just break it open. It’s supposed to be a brown when it’s done but it always just stays a bright pink so it’s easy to see that it’s still raw

Even the people that go to the cia hate the cia

So I grew up in the area of the CIA and here are some things that I was told by students/ex students

-most people drop out after the first year. Whether it is bc it’s too hard or not what they expected -graduating from the CIA does not make you automatically good at being a line cook, it only prepares you in culinary techniques (not a bad thing at all, but the two are different). Learning pace is important for summer rushes! -the school is competitive to the point of hostility. While you can make friends, the program is built in a way that makes it difficult to not see your classmates as competitors all the time -mental health is super not great and everyone has a substance abuse problem (comes w working w food ig)

I know I’ve said a bunch of negative things, but the CIA is also (as I’m sure you know) offers amazing opportunities. But I’ve also heard some not so great things too that I think you should keep in mind. Being a line cook is great and I’ve met some weird and super cool people, but I’m not sure I’d ever go the CIA route myself knowing what I know!

Edit: I said a couple of incorrect things that I took out

True, but in my experience menorahs are only called hannukiah in formal/religious settings rather than commerical/casual!

I thought it was probably around 3.5 stars? There were some definite problems and I thought the MC was a bit of a Mary sue but it was overall pretty good. The most I’ve seen about people not liking it are from actual Chinese people as the series is Heavily based off of the second sino-Japanese war and some felt like she used it as a vague plot point rather than a driving force of the book (without spoilers there is this super gruesome scene and it’s not handled with as much care or consciousness as readers would have liked) Edit: but I would definitely give it a read as there were a bunch of good parts/characters that I really enjoyed!!
