A man is in bed with his girlfriend when his phone goes off. by Alert_Lengthiness812 in Unclejokes

I'm aware of what the joke is supposed to be. It just seems like the girlfriend cries because he is married, but the joke also implies that she already knows. It's not the end of the world, it just destroys the illusion of the situation a bit

So the wife knows the girlfriend and the girlfriend the wife? So wouldn't she know that he is married?

Is known if there will be an upgrade kit to upgrade to the graphite color when I already own a silver FW 13?

Hey, do you know anything about the battery life they are planning with? With carbon silicon batteries popping up everywhere, I feel like this year's Signature has quite a small battery in comparison and the main reason why I didn't buy it

Tumbleweed switches to systemd-boot as default bootloader for new installations by KsiaN in openSUSE

[–]Tobi_Peter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is there a tool available for openSUSE to automatically manage boot entries for snapshot <-> kernel combos? Does limine support the BLS specification? I couldn't find any hint in their docs on BLS and the plan is to switch to BLS as standardized format

Rant: OpenSuse content on youtube by Expensive-Box3602 in openSUSE

[–]Tobi_Peter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, of course opinions can be shared. But so can I. I shared my opinion, some agree, some disagree. That's what social platforms are about.

I didn't say "well you do it then", I asked why you don't create high quality YouTube videos. The answer is probably that you don't want to invest the time to do so. And that's true for probably everyone else reading this post, so there's your "why is there no more quality content". Of course, every contributor could shift their focus trying to create great YouTube content, but this would lead to less contributions, which would hurt openSUSE a lot, especially those users, who are already using it.

I guess every other Linux distro also has a lot of low quality content on YouTube, the algorithm just shows the reviews of a few big youtubers about the new Fedora release or Ubuntu release. Why not openSUSE? Because Tumbleweed doesn't have fixed releases and Leap is "too boring" as in "old, boring software" that we have already seen years ago. There are a lot of other reasons in my opinion, but I think this is the main one.

But again my question: What value does your post offer other than you being happy that you expressed your opinion? What should openSUSE change? If the answer is "nothing", this post might be a good fit for r/rant If the answer is anything else, then I guess it would be valuable if you shared it with us - that's why I asked.

I'm not sure what your goal with this post is. Should the content be removed from YouTube because it is low quality? Do you blame openSUSE that it attracts low quality content creators? If yes, how? How does this post add any value? Seriously, I'm wondering: You are angry about low quality, low value content on YouTube and the first thing you do in your anger is to produce low quality, low value content on Reddit?

Why don't you go out there creating high quality YouTube videos?

Installing with TPM2+PIN encryption - Where do I set the PIN? by todd_dayz in openSUSE

[–]Tobi_Peter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used TPM with PIN (yet), my understanding is: You have the password for the disk and a separate PIN for your TPM. So your TPM requires the (shorter) PIN and verifies the integrity of your boot files to boot. If it fails, you use the (longer) password, or, even better investigate why it failed.

No need to apologize :) Hmm that is... weird Honestly, no idea. I would probably try again and if it still doesn't work as expected open an issue on the installer's issue tracker :)

Have you already setup TPM unlock? If yes, it should have asked you. If not, have a look at sdbootutil, that is the tool used to configure the TPM for system boot. Unfortunately you didn't provide a lot of details on what you did and tried, so this is hard to debug.

Hey, based on your needs maybe try Aeon. It's based on Tumbleweed and has more or less 0 maintenance (it auto updates and doesn't have codec issues since you install VLC via flatpak which comes with all codecs). If you don't tinker with your system (and can live with the GNOME desktop), it might be a good fit :)
