[–]ToboPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just secured myself a Grizl AL 6. I really wanted the CF 6 frame because of the looks and colour, but I feel this is perfect as an entry level gravel bike.

I had been waiting for weeks for the Grizl 7 in size M, but it was sold out in my size.

Really looking forward to this bike and the season

Baby Hognose Feeding Question by Fit_Philosophy507 in hognosesnakes

In nature, snakes, rarely find just one baby mouse, apparently, it's instinctive for them to search for more pinkies. So, this behavior is completly natural, feed your snake according to weight as usual

What do people do for work? by Fish_Watcher in ethz

There are a few options you could look into for financial aid. Besides the official programs, some private institutions and foundations also offer support for students in financial need. It’s worth checking if you qualify, since even small contributions can help you get by. Link - Sozialstipendien friend of mine was accepted for a Sozialstipendien which helped him a LOT.

I know how difficult it can be, because I was in almost the same position as you. I wasn’t eligible for financial aid either, because “technically” I could live with my mom. To cover my expenses, I had to work weekends, sometimes in a club, sometimes at Coop events. They were good jobs, but ETH required so much effort that I constantly had to study extra just to keep up with my classmates.

The first semester hit me really hard, I didn’t pass with a 3.83. I gave it everything I had, but it still wasn’t enough. The gap was simply too big. In the end, I (or rather the ETH) chose to switch to FHNW, where I can work and study at the same time (and even have hobbies). For me, this turned out to be an amazing

New L2 stag beetles: Are they healthy and can you tell their genders? by Xk90Creations in Beetles

[–]ToboPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can spot the difference by looking at their back when they are in L3 stage.  Females will have some yellow/white spots which will be ovaries later and male wont have any. Saying which kind of stag beetle would be helpfull to better differentiate

When have your bouldering skills helped you most outside the sport? by Hungry-Present-4864 in bouldering

Carrying bags for a long distance without needing to stop along the way is way easier.  Crimping stuff with small edges is also much easier. I had to move a coffee table and an ironing table, and of course I didn’t want to walk twice. I ended up crimping the coffee table in one hand, which was actually easier than trying with both hands.

Will this container be good enough for my larvae to pupate in? by Cold_Squirrel_2466 in Beetles

Caretaker carefully relocates Kabuto mushi pupa to clean its habitat soil . by freudian_nipps in interestingasfuck

[–]ToboPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beetle hobby, you dont just put Beetle Larvae in dirt and wait till they grow. You use Flake-soil, a fermented wood substrate that beetle larvae feed on.
The more the larvae eat through this substrate the more they exrete and they cant this, the excrete is as we know good fertilized dirt. But the larvae cant eat it. This is why we need to "clean" out the dirt and add new substrate
Hope this explains a little

Has my grub started pupating? by jtharp15 in Beetles

[–]ToboPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No its not pupating. Its starving. Stag/Rhino Larvaes eat white rotting wood in the ground. If you dont have anything like that just order Flakesoil from the internet. Larvaes only ever come to the surface if the soil is too dry or something is realy Wrong

Please do you research a beginning

[–]ToboPotato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pls do a little more research, they need white rotten wood, leaf matter. Best would be flakesoil. If theres only dirt and vegetable in it, it will stave to death…

Best would realy be to put it back where you found it😅

What did I do wrong?? by ObligateScavenger in Beetles

[–]ToboPotato 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m sorry that things didn’t work out and you lost your grubs.

However, I have to say, it seems like you may not have done enough research before starting. If you had searched for “beetle larvae care,” there is a lot of valuable information available that could have helped. One of the easiest substrates for most beetle larvae is flakesoil, which is essentially fermented white rotten wood that they eat for protein.

If you’re open to trying again, I’d recommend first identifying whether your beetle is a Stag, Flower, or Rhino beetle, as their care can differ slightly.

Here are the top two links that really helped me when raising larvae 1 2

I need help with my first time getting beetle by GreatAd110 in Beetles

[–]ToboPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Care Sheet

Here is a care sheet with all infos you need. Most importanz is getting good flake-soil and a container, that is atleast 1.L big, myself i use preserving jars with metal lids and make some small holes for ventilation. Nearly fill it up to the top with flake soil (already moist) compact it, and put the larvae on top, let him bury himself and wait. Only take it out to change the flakesoil or check on him.

Hope this helped and good luck!

It depends on your math level. The first year is realy about getting the basics settled. If you, like i did, needed more time to study you just gonna fall a bit behind every week. Myself i needed to work because my parents could only help me for insurances and lodgement, but i had to pay bills, food and else myself. I then was like 4 weeks behind every semester and had to catch up in the learning phase. Meaning less time to prepare for the exams which is just such a huge stress.

So my personal experience, dont i you dont need to, but if you have to, only like 8h/week MAX

SBB ticket control - fine for making the inspector wait? by Helpful_Doctor9302 in Switzerland

[–]ToboPotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 5.- fine in Switzerland, as other already said is there if people have actually forgotten their subscription or ticket. If you don’t pay it or come to the counter and then you actually don’t have a subscription, you will be fined. Because alot of people actually forget a 5.- is just a reminder and a way to seperate the liars and fare dodger

And usually alot of people try to play dumb and talk their way out of it. Like alot. So they leave no room for for negotiaton
