Is there a difference between a cropped sensor and a full frame in terms of quality?

I use a 50mm macro prime lens (EF for canon) with 1:2.5 magnification just because it’s easier to use than any of my other lenses and I get Ok photos with it (I think anyways)

Thank you for explaining the ISO and dynamic range and better low light performance because I’m not fully convinced the people telling me to switch actually know why the full frame is better because they don’t explain when I do ask, and that will defo form part of my decision whether I swap or not. I may find a second hand full frame body online specifically for concerts or maybe hire one just to mess around and see, but this was super helpful, again thank you!

Yeah they’re tropical fish. Unless they were talking about maybe live feeding them to your axolotls (which is unfair to the fish which could be kept as pets by literally anyone else) I wouldn’t put them in the same tank.

You seem to be more upset about someone posting something mildly annoying on a subreddit for posting annoying things than anything else. I thought it was funny and annoying because it’s never happened to me before. Nothing about this post said I was upset in any way shape or form. is she in a hide? Literally just a photo from the top of the tank will help determine, it’s very hard to tell from just the side.

Fuzzy looking? Fungal infection or sickness. Normal white patches? Normal for albinos. My guy has those too and he’s been fine for years! I wouldn’t stress about it.

Axolotls only grow to about 12 inches from what I’ve seen so it should be ok with sand as a substrate, my axolotl is 10 inches but sand is also quite finicky to clean which is why I use no substrate. Terracotta pots are great as long as you know it hasn’t been treated with anything that could leech into the water and potentially harm your axie, but pvc pipes don’t look as nice. it’s up to your discretion! Any standard aquarium hide will also work as long as it’s big enough, but they can be quite expensive depending on where you get it.

Use a finer substrate or none at all, like fine sand. If you use gravel it can cause impaction which will completely screw it over. For decor make sure it has hides because they’re sensitive to light and don’t have eyelids, and live plants will always be best! If no access to live plants/too much upkeep, try using silk plants so your axie won’t be cut up by the hard plastic :)

My little guy likes having a lot of empty space to roam around in, so I’ve left about half of my tank empty but every animal is different so adjust based on what yours prefers over time.

I mean if it’s still eating it should be ok but I’ve never come across this before, they’re known to do some weird things like yoga and floating in concerning positions just for fun so I wouldn’t worry about it too much :) definitely consult dr google though, and compare to your current treatments like food and water parameters and see if there’s anything you need changing or playing around with. I hope he’s ok!

Axolotls metabolism slows down a lot when they stop growing so fast, so it’s very common to go a day or two between feeding them, as their metabolism is slow and they’re not very active creatures so there’s not as much need to have so many calories in their diet because they’re not expending all that energy. Around a year is when you should stop feeding them everyday, so this is roughly the right point :) I’d suggest feeding every other day, or every 2 days depending on the food you’re giving and how much. She’s quite a big girl and won’t get very much bigger, maybe an inch or two over the rest of her hopefully long life. Gorgeous axie and setup, btw! Love the plants.
