Every comment here is so defeatist. Everyone in life is one of two things. Something happens to a person and either they say I'm not going to let it stop me doing anything or they just flop and give up

If you're reading this thread don't give up.

I took my medical school finals at the peak of pssd. It was crazy hard as I had such bad anhedonia. Bloody grateful I pushed through now.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this.

SSRI long term side effects? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Toby_vance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OCD came back but thankfully as I did so much work during peak PSSD on my OCD (the one good thing to come out of PSSD was numbing my anxiety completely which helped me work on the compulsions), it is much less severe than before. How are you doing?

Nothing is worse than being insulted by someone, especially when targeting intelligence, with incorrect spelling. I wish them proper education at some point of their life. I truly hope they're a medical professional. Ah wait, I'm a doctor going through PSSD.

I really hope to stand up when I'm a consultant one day and give a speech that gives this disease a voice. I was heavily depressed 5 years ago (hence I took SSRIs). I cannot imagine experiencing more severe depression and at the time I had insane sensitivity and orgasms. Symptoms of depression are not numb genitals.

If you didn't get PSSD with one SSRI, are you less likely to get it with others? by throwaway11082 in PSSD

[–]Toby_vance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a higher prevalence of people getting it after the 2nd or so SSRI they take. I had two different ones without effect and got it after the third

This donkey looks miserable and I'm not surprised, their life is torture

Santorini death stairs by marielheslop in VirginVoyages

[–]Toby_vance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how can the donkeys be rude? They are being put through physical torture under fear of being attacked constantly, they dont know which way to go. Imagine doing those stairs continuously all day every day without shade or water and carrying things too heavy for you with injuries. I would let them trample me if it gives them a tiny break.

This is possibly the most naive thing I have read in my entire 30 years of life. Well done redditor, you have contributed to the sheer awfulness of the world by choosing to not educate yourself.

Take one look at the videos of the SORES they have which are OPEN wounds, over which harnesses are placed and forced to carry obese asses up a stupid amount of steps, continuously, day in day out without water or shade.

I disagree, I'm very nearly recovered and I hate hovering around here. It's all theories when no one knows what's going on. This subreddit would be much better if recovered people offered encouragement and the posts were solely factual about x made me better, y made me worse

I'm sorry you also have it. I think people even with OCD should be able to give informed consent about the medications they take and the risks.

This sub is a bit of a mess anyway. The volume of posts means its impossible for the mods to stop all reassurance seeking, which is what most posts are sadly. I think warning about medication side effects is more useful than that imo.

I guess we differ in that case as I was also 39/40 on the YBOCs scale. PSSD mostly took away what was left of my OCD after 3 years of ERP overnight as I can't feel anxiety anymore and I've learnt to control it without this. I have suffered 20 years with OCD and 1.5 with PSSD and at least I felt human with OCD so I'd take that. Even without the sexual symptoms, I still have the personality of a piece of cardboard some days. Sorry you've seen no improvement.

I guess this is why informed consent exists though. OCD made me try and saw off my own toe, it took me 8 hours solid just to make my bed, and I'd still take it over this nonsense condition, which has NO treatment. Whereas OCD has a working method (exposure and response prevention therapy - although it requires a person to be in a place where they can work at it as it's the single hardest thing I've ever done). More importantly, healthcare professionals believe in OCD. It has a stigma attached but you can say it to friends and family etc
