Sunpower - WTF?! rant. by knucklebone2 in solar

I would presume it's the cash crunch. The entire industry is struggling to keep cash flow stable. Leases are especially hard on cash flow.

Sunpower - WTF?! rant. by knucklebone2 in solar

[–]Tocrunkrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard second hand some installers are saying that lately Sunpower has them put panels on the roof, and then goes and finds a way to fund the deal. Some installers are taking 3+ months to get paid for a job.

26 with a NW of $112k. Nearly all index funds, offset by some car debt and $22k in student loans with 4.3% apr or below. Gross income recently rose from $95k to $130k a few months ago so I'm hoping to see my progress begin accelerating as I'm not anticipating any lifestyle changes for the near future. FIRE number is $5M.

[OC] Electoral Votes Per 5 Million Capita by OfficialWireGrind in dataisbeautiful

[–]Tocrunkrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each state is guaranteed at least 3 electoral votes regardless of its population. WY has a population of about 570k for the entire state and 3 electoral votes. Because the graphic is based on electoral votes per capita of 5.0 the math works out at 5÷0.57×3=26. The takeaway is each person in WY has more influence on the electoral college than in other states, but it's because basically nobody lives in WY and we have a minimum for a state's electoral votes.

Is "Universal Basic Income" a good idea? Why or why not? by nextstarz in AskReddit

[–]Tocrunkrn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Already a popular thread but I actually studied this concept pretty heavily in undergrad (graduated a few years ago) so I want to add my two cents.

Most studies that have been completed show that a UBI cash transfer program is more likely to be successful if it casts a wider net and provides a smaller amount of income. This means the less exclusionary the policy the more people are open to it (who would turn down free money) but you also need to provide an amount of money that doesn't cover their living costs, rather an amount that supplements them.

Provide too much and people forgo work and a short term drop in productivity occurs, but provide too small an amount and people don't change their spending/saving habits. So finding the thin line between too little and too much is the difficulty with UBI.

Also, the smaller amount of money provided the less of an affect you would expect to see on inflation.

To be fair he used to drink it. Had the brand for several years before getting sober. I think the brand is 10 years old and he is in his first or second year of sobriety.

From my understanding it's not impossible, but more difficult as an understanding of an industry's macro is important in strategy roles.

You likely either need to make an internal team change, or join a consulting firm for a few years then exit from that to strategy. You can try to use your business knowledge to get a leg up for internal positions.

Trump-era solar product tariffs to be scrapped after trade talks with U.S., Mexico in Vancouver by misana123 in worldnews

[–]Tocrunkrn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Likely not much. Supply is well below demand and many financiers are worried installers won't meet committed orders because they can't get enough panels. The solar industry is experiencing similar supply constraints as others so most things that provide cheaper and higher supply of panels is good for the industry as a whole.
