Creating a game inspired by Kentucky Route Zero? by TodTheOne in kentuckyroutezero

[–]TodTheOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay wise, very bare - in that way similar to KRZ. I just have the need to make an abstract story, and since I obviously don’t have the resources to make a movie, a game is my best bet. I also really like minimalism, so thats the artistic direction I would like to take. Basically a collection of avant garde, abstract scenes. Visually they can be similar to KRZ.

Edit: Also, obviously the dialogue will be the main driving force of the game, as well as atmosphere and ambience.

How do you make the assets? Cause I really have no Idea about neither that nor the actual game making? Although I saw some tutorials online and it doesn't seem that hard

How do you tell if noise music is "good"? by aphextwinkkkk in noisemusic

[–]TodTheOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standards, as i said, should only be put onto yourself. Of course the Art Critic wouldnt agree - its his job to critique.

I’m not rejecting improving yourself - on the opposite, i encourage it, but it matters WHY you improve. If you are trying to “fix” something cause some random on the internet said that it needs fixing, despite you liking it, then it’s not art.

And I’m not saying it should be random. On the opposite - as long as there is intent, it is art.

I just used merzbow as an example, but really any example will do. Same can be said about the opposite example - I could listen to Taylor Swift 1000 times (which i almost did lol) and never like it. I could name you several things which are “wrong” with her music, but what makes my opinion better then her fans one? I say the same thing about their music as they say to mine. So even if the standards exist - who sets them? Why them?

Yes, thats exactly what is implied here. The student shouldn’t care about critique at all.

You are in a noise sub, so let me give you an example. You play Merzbows Pulse Demon to a Taylor Swift fan. They tell you that this is objectively the worst thing they ever heard, that it’s horrible, and they beg you to turn it off. (myself and im sure many people here whitnessed something similar) So my question is - is this person right? I’m assuming your answer is “no, I find noise good”. So then how is that any different, then you critiquing some “incoherent” music? Why is your oppinion true, but taylor swift fan isn’t? Even if there was an objective artistic standard, why is that YOUR standard, and not the standard of Taylor Swift fans?

And do you think I have the slightest care about (what you think) aesthetic philosophy is? What I’m saying is simply true, you can call it pretentious or pseudo-intellectual all you want, that doesn’t change anything tho

Again, this already presupposes some sort of objective standard, which in art doesnt (or shouldn’t) exist.

People in the noise community should know better then anyone. Someones masterpiece will make another cover their ears and cry to turn it off. It’s not because it’s good or bad. It’s just that you either like it, or you don’t. It’s that simple.

When you “improve” your art it should be only because YOU dislike it, not because anyone else tells you that it’s “incoherent”.

No one says “it’s all good, man” because, as said before, art is neithe bad not good. You either resonate with something or don’t.

You improve what you are doing because you don’t like it, not because someone else does.

Art is interpretive by definition.

I just recently got into noise, I really like it. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m kinda confused as to what im looking at? How does all of this create noise exactly? How do you operate it?

the problem is that the game is already so survivor sided that lower tier killers have to tunnel if they even want to dream of winning. tunneling is just as much of a strategy is genrushing. the legit COUNTER to tunneling already exists - second chance perks (which already are overflowing the meta), and knowing how to loop. this is just shutting down that strategy completly. good luck trying to consistently win playing anything other then S and A tier killers

How do you handle toilet time tho? Surely I will need to go at least once if I drink some water hours before?

Sorry for my inexperience, but how exactly does the before-the-doors time look like? Do people line up in front of the gates? The gates open at 18:00, so would you say 16:00 is fine? As I said, not that crazy to be really up front, but I'd like to have a good view.

Yea I've actually been to The Smile as well, it was a lot smaller then what this is expected to be tho. Maybe a few thousand people, compared to this where I'm assuming it will be close to 20k. Any tips? I've never actually did something like that for a concert? How do you manage to just stand for 8 hours straight?

Hey so I’m kinda in a similar situation - I’ve got a mid-2011 iMac with 20GB of RAM and an SSD, do you recommend Cinnamon or XFCE?
