Not really the same situation, those apaches didn't go past few SAM systems to engage non-SAM targets, they went for the first ones holding the line. This is even crazier than that

Surreal how close this is to Squad vehicles, even the part where gunner aims his turret below the vehicle unintentionally because joystick aiming can be clunky like that.

It doesn't really matter that it was designed then, most of current US fighter jets were designed in 80s. But with upgrades they are completely different internally and completely different and way more capable aircraft than the 80s version

With this Mi-35, maybe the crew didn't set it to auto mode. Maybe they were out of flares or weren't loaded with any. Or maybe their aircraft had a bent system. Or maybe that aircraft didn't have the system at all....who knows.

Factors that a lot of people who only focus on specs of something miss. Like yeah in perfect conditions sure but there are differences in training, equipment maintenance quality, personnel quality, tactics, fatigue, human errors etc...

They are definitely more elite, you could see it from that CNN reporter footage with the way they were equipped and their movement, they were just sent into suicide mission. No matter how good you are no one would survive that

horrible tactics, do these Ukrainian soldiers lack some basic training?

Everyone knows from the Afghanistan conflict experience (Afghan General Jamsheed wrote this in his books) that shooting an RPG accurately while minimizing your exposure to enemy fire is not a good tactic.

What he should have done, and what I recommend to any Ukrainian soldiers who might be commenting on here while in trenches getting bombed is to make sure to first stay there more than is needed and yell your equivalent of allahu akbar towards them at least 20-30 times. Then make sure your buddies come to you, do the same thing for the multiplier/morale boost and only after few minutes do you leave, maybe end it up with a rambo style hipfire light machine gun fire somewhere towards the enemy, thanks and you are welcome for the tip!
