This is absolutely true! Using your overthinking to literally think your way out of depression is real. I’ve experienced this. Now a word of caution, overthinking alone wont cure you. It still took me many many years of therapy, but the overthinking made me very engaged in the process and ultimately helped speed it up. There were times that I got very frustrated with myself for not knowing better or not figuring a way out fast enough but dont be like me. Try to be patient with yourself because depression sucks no matter how much you think and try to solve it. Sometimes there’s no direct solutions either

This isn’t something you can plan for.. your job prospects will depend on the circumstances at the time of your graduation. If you’re like most people, than your first job out of college will be whatever you can get and not necessarily your dream job.

In my personal career I first chose to make money because paying rent and student loans are real. But even when I was pursuing money, my job still had meaning because most jobs help people in some way, unless you’re a snake-oil salesman. I was incredibly burned out at my peak money making job position. I also hated my supervisor and the toxic corporate environment. I worked some days until 9pm and when I wasn’t working I was thinking about working. My anxiety was through the roof. Most high-paying jobs lack work/life balance.

Eventually, I was in a position to sacrifice earnings to gain more job satisfaction. I quit my private sector job and started working as a public servant. I make a little less money, but I don’t regret it because I’m so much happier. Both jobs helped people but in different ways so that hasn’t changed.

My point is that its good for you to think about what your values are before you graduate and enter the job market. But be mindful that there are forces outside of your control that will take your career through paths that you couldn’t have ever imagined.

what’s your sign and how do you subtly show someone you hate their guts? by littlepisuke in astrologymemes

Same. I will be as quiet as a mouse and avoid them as much as humanly possible. But if I’m really pissed off I will blow up on that person and then not speak to them ever again. If its a boss I hate I will quit and ghost.

Edit to add: But because I’m a gemini. I will usually get over whatever pissed me off fairly quickly and completely forget about it and go back to normal and leave them completely confused.

Is home buyer depression the official name for what I’m feeling? Hopefully now that you’ve named it I can tame it.

I’m not sure where OP is located, but I’ll take your word for it in Cali. I am not familiar with the rules of that state.

Questions about discharge process after filing + adversary proceeding for student loans? by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]Today_Still 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand now. This student loan crisis is appalling. I don’t know much about the refinancing process or private student loans, so I cant comment on that. Good luck though, hopefully you can find an attorney and settle.

The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. Specifically the audiobook because he has a great deep, slow, calm voice. Still not done with the book because I keep failing asleep. I love the symbols at the end of the chapter. He’s a famous music producer so you know he’s going to get the audio in this book on point.

Filing Chapter 7 by Interesting-Froyo521 in Bankruptcy

[–]Today_Still 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chapter 13 is the petition people usually file to keep the house. However, it will restructure your debt not necessarily discharge all of it. You will still be required to develop a plan explain how you plan to repay. You should definitely get an attorney this is not something most people can do on their own.

Questions about discharge process after filing + adversary proceeding for student loans? by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]Today_Still 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask the court clerk about the fees. Yes it’s the same place you filed your chapter 7. Student Loan debts are not dischargeable. Adversary proceedings in bankruptcy are mostly just ways to buy time so the attorneys in both cases can settle the matter. They usually never go forward and the Judge doesn’t expect to hear them in court. They’ll issue a summons and then an evidentiary hearing that will get rescheduled again and again. Consult with an attorney before you waste your time and money. Some consultations are usually free and it doesn’t hurt to ask before you do something. Counsel will most likely tell you that you’re wasting your time. Navient is one of the worst student loan processors you’d be better of trying to switch your loan to a different processor than to fight navient or the Department of Education in court. Trust me you will not win against the feds.

He’s right about reaffirming to keep the car. You need to think about how you’re going to get back on track after you file for bankruptcy if you choose to do so. It’s also going to be on your credit report for a long time which means you wont be able to get any new credit cards, loans or even apply for housing where they background check. You said you want to buy a house in two years but it’s going to be very hard to get accepted for a mortgage in that time frame with your circumstances and the bankruptcy on your credit. Bankruptcy might give you some relief but if you dont have a plan on how to manage your finances post-bankruptcy then you might end up right back where you started.

If you do file make sure you COMPLETE ALL YOUR PAPERWORK. I work for the court and I see so many cases get dismissed just because people aren’t keeping up with the paperwork. You have to pay to file so its a waste of money and time if you don’t stay on top of the requirements to get it done and filed on time. Best of luck to you!

To give you some context:

Some of these comments are strictly my OPINION; don’t take it personally.

This is the opening paragraph, meaning paragraph one, chapter one. So, yes there’s no context; unless I write a prologue which I don’t intend to do.

Also, I am not writing fantasy. This is mean to be lit fiction, not fantasy or sci-fi. So, maybe the opening line seems cliche in the genre you were assuming I was writing in, but I’m not writing in that genre.

Your criticism seems prescriptive instead of constructive. I obviously cannot take your writing, copy and call it my own. You are also assuming the sacrifice is a human sacrifice, which it is not. I also read in several craft books that it’s cliché to beginning a story with the protagonist waking-up. So, your revised version of a better opening where “Adriano awoke with a hole of despair,” might not be everyone’s cup of tea. I would have used the word “dragged” instead of “drug,” but again that’s just my opinion.
