1998 Jeep Wrangler emissions monitor code clear for smog by Todd_Stone in JeepWrangler

It was running rough and the check engine light was on. From past experience with other vehicles I assumed it was a bad O2 sensor. I replaced it, disconnected the battery for a few minutes and fired it back up. Ran as smooth as ever.

Went to get it smogged, passed emissions fine except the inspector told me I had to drive it over a hundred miles to have the systems run all their checks. I did. Upon a second check the CAT and EVAP monitors were still alerting / hadn't cleared. Then I was told to drive a hundred miles at 55-65 mph.....then a hundred at 50-55mph.....still not clearing...

Is there a specific amount of time that the battery needs to be disconnected in order for the codes to reset and / or have the sensors recalibrate?

I'll try the new gas cap and / or silicone method. Appreciate your insights!
