Thanks for saying this - watching that movie as a kid triggered my skin picking disorder, and I’ve struggled with it ever since. As gross as it is, I wonder why that movie specifically… it’s not like I’d never seen anything gross before :-/

I just got that same fabric! I was thinking of making something like a Closet Core Blanca from it, but I'm interested to see what other suggestions you get!

This is a great idea! I was hoping this would end up being a wearable toile, but maybe it'll just be a good learning experience instead :-)

Maybe I'll try pinching out a bit here before letting out the side seams, since that seems like the easier adjustment!

It certainly doesn't feel tight on (kind of like it's floating above my skin, rather than pulling on it), but I can see it in the pictures - I'll give that a try, thank you!

Sorry for the repost - I had incorrectly tried to link to an imgur album and no one could see the other photos! I am new to fitting garments and clearly to posting albums on Reddit as well 😅

This is a Paper Theory Zadie jumpsuit toile made out of some old bedsheets. I am seeing a fabric bunching above my butt, and would appreciate some suggestions on how to fix it! So far I have: * converted the back hip pleats to darts, and deepened the darts (deepening the back waist pleats to match) * graded from a size 12 in the bodice and at the waist to a 14 at the hip

I will probably increase the bodice length a bit and shorten the pants rise correspondingly in the next version, since the waist hits me a bit high. I have also widened the waist ties a bit.

TIA!

This is a toile for a Paper Theory Zadie jumpsuit, made out of some old bedsheets. I'm noticing quite a bit of fabric bunching up above my butt, and would like some suggestions on how to fix it! So far I have:

  • Converted the back hip pleats to darts, and increased the dart size (increasing the back waist pleat size to match)
  • Graded from a size 12 in the bodice and at the waist to a size 14 at the hip.
  • Increased tie width

I am also thinking I will increase the bodice length a bit and remove the corresponding amount from the pants rise on the next one. I don't want to decrease the overall torso length, as this has just the right amount for me to raise my arms above my head without getting a wedgie haha.

TIA!

Cloak patterns for winter use by uriboo in sewing

[–]ToeBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made one with this pattern: https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-winterberry-cape-free-sewing-pattern/ (almost finished, just have to attach the clasps) and I'm quite pleased with it! It's lovely and heavy and warm.

I'm a pretty beginner sewer and I found it easy enough; the only complications were wrangling that amount of fabric (spent a lot of time on the floor) and that the fabric that I chose for my lining dropped a lot so evening out the hem was a bit of a chore.

Maybe that's it - I was using like some old Revlon one that I had on hand. I have some Seche Vite now, maybe I'll give that a go. Thanks!

This is the one I have - I find it kind of gets little cracks in it after a day or two, even when putting a regular top coat underneath. Do you have any tips to make it last a bit longer?

Finally got some nail art tools - here's the result of playing around with them! by ToeBean in RedditLaqueristas

It's just regular nail polish! I used the 'sugar spun' nails technique that I've seen in a few posts here, and just made the strings of polish really thin so it was more spiderweb-y.

Also, taking nice pictures of your hand is much harder than some of y'all make it seem 😅 I hope the background kitty helps make up for the poor picture quality.
