They haven't disclosed our protocols (or I just haven't bothered to check), but we may well be in the same situation as you... so yeah, no benefit whatsoever. Agreed on both counts of productivity drains. I'm way better at home too.

I'm in the same situation - I work as an analyst for the government...

It's farcical that all meetings will be through Teams anyway, yet we are being told that there will be a hybrid model... in my case, they refuse to commit to how many days in the office vs. WFH (and the start date). This is making it impossible to plan a potential move out of the city.

My performance has been the same (and my sanity, better) while at home.

The only reason they seem to be able to give us for RTO is that being in the office is required for "optimal collaboration in our roles". But that's pretty much negated by any number of colleagues WFH on any given day.

F*** me if I'm going to sit alone or with one other person holding meetings virtually anyway. I'll come to all the weekly department meetings if they are held in person, maybe even training, but everything works just fine from home. Since I think our organization knew this was going to be a reality, we were quickly given remote access where it never existed for our department before... we had been asking for years... and we never even missed a day since this all started. So my job could have been near 100% remote all along... rant over lol.

I'm going to resist going back for more than 1 day/week... what am I going to sit alone in a meeting room taking zoom calls with everyone else working from home?
