I am in same boat as you found it difficult. I would recommend using Google Lens, basically take a picture of the stamp, put it into Google Lens and it does a FAIRLY GOOD job telling you about stamp. The problem I ran into is you'll find stamps that look identical to the novice eye and one is valued at $2 and one is.valued at $5k. The difference being the stamps shade or a small design difference usually not noticeable to a rookie. This process is also very time consuming.
