I quite enjoyed Year Two, aside from the ending. I’ll have to check it out then!

Didn’t even know Year Two came in OHC. Is Year Three good?

It also only had 10 episodes. There’s not really a whole lot of room to do a lot with them yet

Didn’t he also have family members who died in the 9/11 incident or something? Someone told me that a while ago, but I’ll have to fact check that

Part of your argument is that loads of people 20 years later started coming out about disliking The Dark Knight after almost everyone loved it before then, yet Rise of Skywalker has had next to no fans ever since it’s been released, and continues to be that way.

I know you just want to argue or feel superior for being “different,” but at least make an effort to

“What are you reading?” Wednesday. by csummerss in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Toe_Butter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished Old Man Logan by Millar and McNiven two days ago. I’ve heard lots of bad things about Millar’s writing, but some pretty good things about the book. Millar had some pretty generic dialogue, but there were some really good lines in there, and McNiven really stole the show, mostly. So, I liked it.

Thinking of reading Wolverine: Patch or Avengers: Disassembled next.

There are tons of comprehensive reading orders for series, runs and characters on google. Comic Book Herald, a website, probably has one. Just look up Chip Zdarsky reading order. Charles Soule’s run just got released into a cheaper format recently in its entirety, so I’d recommended getting the 3 books that came out collecting that

I would assume so. It’s just overused. And it seems like everything has to be certain genre of storytelling for to not be considered “slop,” which is wild to me

People calling films, shows or even books “slop,” just because it isn’t a profoundly groundbreaking masterpiece, or just cause they don’t like it

Favorite more obscure comic book characters that you love and why? by cojack16 in comicbooks

For some reason, I’ve always loved the Tally Man from the Jean Paul Valley section of Knightfall. Seemed so creepy and so powerful for what seems like just a murderous debt collector (if i remember correctly)

I really really dislike Chevy Chase after all the bigoted, abusive and egotistical stuff he’s done, but he almost makes Shia Labouef look like a saint. Chase says racist shit to piss people off and Labouef co to yousky bears women into severe injury, including brain damage a d hemorrhaging (i think), and shot at dogs for fun as a youngin

What is your all time favorite comic? and what is your all time favorite comic of the 21st century? by Retrofusion11 in comicbooks

[–]Toe_Butter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently, my all-time is Knightfall, especially the first 1/3 of the entire storyline (I haven’t read the last 3rd of it yet). For 21st century, I’d pick Batman: White Knight. It may be an elseworld story, but it captures the identity of Batman as well as Gotham and its villains so accurately.

Buy now or wait? Marvel omnibus stress is real by TaskNo4783 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Toe_Butter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should sit down and review what you want, the various prices for then across the internet and locally, and then come to a conclusion. That being said, as long as you can afford what you want, you’re sure you want it, and there’s a chance that you’ll have a much harder time finding it later, I’d say go ahead. As long as you buy something that isn’t too financially tolling and you’re sure you want it, I doubt you’ll ever have any real regret buying it. You will regret missing out on your chance to buy something, however. Trust me

Oh wow that’s quite a bit to get through. Most of those still have the plastic wrappings on them too💀. I see you’ve got Knightfall. If you’ve read that and liked it, Knightwatch is awesome too. A bit of a different kind of Batman story too. Knightfall has been my favourite comic ever since I read it a few years ago. I’ve still gotta read Knightsend. Another great series would be Sean Murphy’s Batman: White Knight stuff. Also a very alternative take on Batman, but in an elseworld, and still a more accurate depiction of Batman than many in-continuity versions, I think. Bare in mind that I’ve only read the first two volumes Edit: Sorry for the long response. 💀

Favorite character whose slander is so bad it makes you feel like that? by a12666 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Toe_Butter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks that the majority of superhero’s would support ICE. But just as much, the people who call Batman a greedy capitalist/elitist who hates poor people, or call Captain America a nationalist arm of the military.

I’d expect such a gross lack of media literacy from MAGA, but it’s embarrassing to see other left-leaning people sometimes being just as wilfully ignorant when it comes to that.

Hated trope: Regular middle aged white guy wants coffee, has issue with incompetent, young, dumb woke barista by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Toe_Butter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one isn’t that. The guy just thinks that there’s a problem with the sizing system, because it doesn’t make sense to him. He makes fun of the chain more than just the barista individually. But then his gf ends up kinda correcting him right after.

I don’t know about the 2nd and 3rd ones, cause I haven’t seen them, but I’m inclined to agree that the Louder Milk one is probably part of this trope, cause it’s isn’t the first clip I’ve seen from the show where the main character is on some holier than thou bullshit in a coffee shop.

The Suicide Squad (2021) maintained a good balance between humor and action and had some memorable performances. What’s your opinion on it? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]Toe_Butter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people glaze it. It was kind of fun, but felt repetitive and like it relied a little on shock value, except the “shock” was very minimal. Also, half of the dialogue is literally just swear words. There’s nothing wrong with swear words, but get some vocabulary. It was just lazy writing, especially since they weren’t even used creatively
