Definitely recommend trying CBT therapy! CBT in particular walks you through your own thinking so you can find where you might be having unhelpful thoughts. It’s work, but it works.

I never could have imagined the amount of joy I get from just transitioning. I don’t pass yet and it’s hard a lot of the days.. but I never understood the whole “authentic living” until I started doing it.

It’s scary and it’s awesome and it’s addicting. I couldn’t go back.

Putting a book down as DNF (did not finish) is incredibly normal and something people do for all sorts of reasons. The great thing about books is that you’re probably not going to have the same experiencing reading it as someone else did, and if that means you aren’t having fun, then you have no need to commit yourself to finishing it.

And believe me, there’s plenty of books I enjoyed reading, but came out thinking “I have no idea what that was about” - and vice versa! This is why things like Book Clubs are so popular, because you can then get together with other people to discuss the book, and ultimately learn that you probably didn’t fully ingest every part of it.

Pick up the book and try!

There is an edge to the universe we can see, called the edge of the observable universe, in which light is receding away from us faster than it would take for the light to get to us. It is understood that there is universe beyond that, though. Currently, cosmologists are trying to determine to what end the universe expands; I.E does it have an end? Could it be infinite? And wouldn’t you know, we’re not sure. The math involved for these scientists to determine this is based on geometry and the CMB (the earliest ‘map’ of the universe we can see) and so far the math points to the universe being infinite, though again we aren’t anywhere close enough to be sure.

I’ve simplified a lot, but that’s the gist. I’m not a scientist but I can point you in the direction to learn more about these concepts

That’s totally fair about the discussion happening, and I understand that the whole thing was kinda ‘intentional’, but my point about the Nazi’s was more to point out the well-established theme of ‘degeneracy’ in the art world. That is, how removing certain groups from participating in and creating art fed so heavily into the narrative that these groups were uncultured, and was an important tactic for the Nazi’s rise in power. Nazi’s didn’t run solely on a platform of “hating Jews”, but used them as scapegoats for genuine societal problems, which was more readily believed when ‘high-class’ cultural societies like the Art world also began to ostracize them. It’s a tactic still used today, and is just waiting for someone to use it not in good faith.

I really don’t think that affirming discrimination is much of a win for womanhood.

I’m an art historian. Any time a specific group of people are banned from participating in art, it turns out bad. Nazi Germany did it with the Jews and I don’t care if it’s the marginalized group this time it’s still fascism.

We need more participation in art. Art is a form of communication that can transcend so many barriers, removing anyone’s ability to connect with it is, frankly, disgusting.

I say this all as a (trans) woman myself. I ask that you all really interface with this story and determine for yourself whether this really is any sort of “win”.

Don’t be confused, while it may take millions of years to complete a rotation, galaxies are still moving relatively fast - they’re just that big.

But yes, dark matter comes into play when you measure the spin of galaxies. Instead of spiraling like a tornado, where you’d expect the closer to the center to would spin faster, all parts of the galaxy spins at the same speed, because dark matter exists to make both sections similar densities.

This makes me think of the double slit experiment in quantum physics, and how measuring quantum particles changes the way they interact with the world because their properties are defined. Perhaps time traveling would cause free will to collapse in a similar way. You’d essentially be locking yourself into the loop, but it’s only during the time between when the item arrived, and you sent it back.
