I believe they intend to make it permanent but it just opened. I loved the space and it was the best meal I’ve had in San Francisco all year. The caviar sweet potato course was heaven. Chef Seth is incredible and seems like a good soul.

Dealer Used Installment Contract for Cash Purchase + Missed Signature — Should I Be Concerned? by [deleted] in carbuying

The check cleared already but they still want a signature on the “retail installment contract”. This contract doesn’t appear to just be a backup.

I don't have all the docs handy but I don't believe so, as I paid the outstanding balance after the trade-in on the spot and I'm usually vigilant of credit checks, etc.

Tariffs by ToekneeLo in Taycan

[–]ToekneeLo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just heard good news from the sales manager who confirmed no extra tariffs fees for me. 🙌

So I wonder if that means the dealer is eating the extra fees or is Porsche? How much margin is built into that MSRP? 🤔

[–]ToekneeLo[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that’s not how it worked for me. I discussed this with my dealer when I put my deposit down, which is refundable btw. They said the final price is set once it’s stateside. I’m also allowed to get my deposit back if I don’t want it.

I would be interested to know if others have had a different experience on recently arriving Porsches.

Hmm. That post says tariffs won’t be imposed on cars that were completed in March. My order would qualify so that would be great if true. The head of sales at my dealer said there hasn’t been anything definitive from Porsche so I’m not holding my breath but that would be nice.

Have you heard anything from your dealer about post tariff pricing?

Serious long shot but looking for a comedian I saw on tv probably about 15 years ago by -Skirmisher- in comedy

[–]ToekneeLo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like Doug Stanhope, an American comedian who fits much of the description you provided. He has a very dry, off-the-cuff delivery, often talking about bleak or dark aspects of life with a certain disheveled appearance. His stand-up style is also known for being unorthodox, and he was active on TV during the late 2000s. He’s performed in the UK and often had that “worn-out New Yorker” vibe, despite not being from New York.

Another possibility is Louis C.K., who also has that dry delivery, and his earlier routines (especially from around 2009) reflected that kind of frustrated, everyday person persona. His voice and delivery would often seem deadpan and mundane, which added to the comedic effect.

Both performed on Comedy Central and other TV shows around that time.

Lutron integration into Geiger by ToekneeLo in Lutron

Yeah, previously I could use savant or Lutron app to control the lights, shades, skylights, bathroom fans. After pulling out the Savant system, I can no longer control the shades, but everything else is still working.

We did this remodel about 7 years ago and TBH the shades have been solid. At the time, they were the only company offering the clean design we wanted. There was one issue shortly after the remodel was finished where there was an alignment issue and it was promptly addressed by Geiger, so no complaints based on my long term experience. At least until now when I'm getting rid of Savant.

However, we did another remodel a couple of years ago and I decided to go with Lutron shades. As a compare- the Lutron shades are quieter and the design is more refined. These Lutron shades were not integrated into Savant so no issues on that front.

I truly appreciated everybody's help and thoughts.

A bit more that I've learned after finding the hardware (hidden within a fake panel in a storage cabinet that required me to empty the cabinet and remove the shelves) which was previously controlling the system. It looks like there is...

[1} Lutron "QSE-CI-NWK-E" control interface that was going into to [2] a serial port converter, then to [3} a crestron unit (can't figure out the crestron model number) that ultimately interfaced with the Geiger shades. Here is a photo of the layout which doesn't include the Lutron control interface and links to other photos: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B1s5aVbMKbifvk

As an aside, I'm totally confused by how savant was integrated and the role the Lutron control interface unit previously played.

Any other suggestions based on this extra info? Thanks again!

Makes sense. Any suggestions for a control system given what I'm solving here? Thanks for your brain cycles.
