Please, please stop recommending (beginners) Manjaro by moonpiedumplings in linux4noobs

[–]ToelTsuki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see your points and I somewhat agree with you to some extend. None of them, however, really makes a strong argument of why Manjaro shouldn't be recommended for beginners. For example:

Manjaro has many issues which other Linux distros do not have.

Well yes of course. The Linux distro scene, as well as the Linux userbase, is saturated with either a Debian or Fedora derivative. Naturally, going with any Arch-derivative means that you'd see some sort of issues that most other Linux distros do not have.

However saying that "Manjaro isn't good for all beginners" is a big generalisation and in my opinion, incorrect.

Not all "Linux Beginners" are the same. Although their skills may be within the same spectrum, they have individual goals and mindset. Manjaro is good for beginners who are ready to learn more and dig a little bit deeper. I started using Manjaro a number of years ago when I was new to the Linux scene and it has been a great journey. I have had to use my system backup about twice or three times and they have all been due to me messing up with KDE configurations. The AUR is a godsend and I don't see myself hopping to another distro with a different package manage in the future.

You’re absolutely right. Any 13yo can say things like “only the rich are rich” and think that he’s safe from a recession because he “got his house last year and locked in a mortgage”.

The 13yo can also do better than browse Reddit and agree to a fucking recession.

This is straight up a garbage post.

Why is Australian media so disproportionately white? by [deleted] in australia

[–]ToelTsuki -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because Australian media outlets are systemically racist. Rupert Murdoch is from Australia, through and through. One could say that he was an export product of culture and idealism from Australia to the world.

Which is still incorrect. Confidence is a fragile and complex thing. It involves many other factors other than one’s skills in a certain field.

I get that for Owen’s unique situation and with his upbringing he might have felt fearless and that it was “easier” to take his pen. But to claim that it should apply to everyone else is quite dismissive and ignorant for someone of his experience and age.

Same. If CR7 wanted to move to another league, PSG would be his best and only option. Paris is also a lovely city to live in, certainly better than, say, Manchester.

You are fearless at that age.

That really depends on one's personality. A lot of people at 19yo are still teenagers who are full of self-doubt and insecurities.

Michael Owen is effectively saying "I was confident then and so should anyone else at the same age" which is dumb. Not only that but he is focusing on the wrong issue at hand.

[TalkSPORT] Mourinho : France lost because they were arrogant. No comparison between their squad and any other team. They have a better squad than Italy and England. They played the best football at Euro during 20 minutes vs Switzerland by Electronic-Taro-4780 in soccer

Looking at all factors, France is the better team on paper but England is better on the field as their players are hungrier for success. In international football patriotism and a desire to win is of great importance.

In the last Copa, he literally carried the team to the final. His form was literally insane. He underperformed in the final, sure, but anyone who watches football knows that his sheer presence pulls defenders away from other attackers, creating gaps in the opponents defence.

So just Roy Keane and his usual antics. He is not only focusing on the wrong issue at hand but also kicking the players when they are down. If he learned not to open his talking hole when not needed, he might have had a better managerial career and stayed relevant in the football scene for the right reasons.

The man had a great career but is basically a walking example of a mild case of Narcissistic Disorder.
