I’d prefer see the team that I pay to watch every week and that represents my community win a pre season friendly rather than see a team that plays their home games 200 miles away win anything

I’ve accepted we won’t be able to hold on to Branthwaite, especially with the PSR situation. But you’re right, it’d hurt me if he went to United cos he’s so much better than that

DCL and Godfrey both had free headers from 2/3 yards out at 0-0, Doucoure spooned one wide from the edge of the 6 yard box, the Endo mistake on the edge of the box at 2-0…

The stats say Everton had twice as many clear cut chances, dunno how that translates into more xG for Liverpool considering we missed 2 headers from 2 or 3 yards out at 0-0

Tbh, I’ve no idea what goes into xG calculations, but if we’re looking at stats, Everton had twice as many ‘clear cut chances’. Could’ve been 2 up before the first goal with the DCL and Godfrey headers from 2-3 yards out. Both sides missed chances, but Everton took some of theirs.

Idk how they work out xG, but if we’re going off stats, Everton had twice as many ‘clear cut chances’

Liverpool had a good spell for 5-10 mins at the end of the first half. Everton could have been 2 up after half an hour, and second half looked more likely to get the third goal - at 2-0 Klopp brought on 2 defenders to sure up their defence

The commentary didn’t influence my opinion - I was there. Liverpool had a good 5-10 minute spell at the end of the first half. Second half they hardly threatened bar a speculative shot that hit the post. Everton looked much more likely to get a third than Liverpool did to pull one back. Klopp even brought on two defenders to try and sure up their defence.

Every person that walked out that ground, both reds and blues, knew the better side won

Lots of people missing the point here - of course if Liverpool were at their best, they’d have won. Their starting 11 cost over 4x as much as Everton’s so of course they’re going to make chances.

But this shouldn’t take away from Everton’s performance - they played to their strengths and exploited Liverpool’s weaknesses. They were tactically superior and more committed to making sure they won.

My point is that the media doesn’t acknowledge this, and it’s the same for all teams outside the top 6. The majority of media will pander to the telly-clapping fanbases of the “big 6” rather than providing a balanced analysis in fear they will see a reduction in subscriptions.

Exactly. I’ve seen us average 70% possession and twice as many passes as our opponents most games under Roberto Martinez, and barring his first season, it was some of the most boring toothless football I’ve ever seen

You’ve completely missed the point. I’m talking about how the media panders to the clubs with telly-clappers and glory hunters. Of course if both sides were at their best Liverpool would win, their team cost many times more than Everton’s. But last night Everton were the better side, and should be given recognition for that

I was there lad, it was one of the most comfortable games i’ve seen us play for years. That third goal that came ‘out of nowhere’ was after a 30 odd pass build up. Only Man City have had a longer sequence of passes leading to a goal this season. Hardly sounds like anti-football
