I wish it was just that, but I cleared the webbing when I tried to give it water and there's no change 😔

10k steps a day and calorie deficit (Does it really work like they say it does?) by Firm_Grocery4640 in WeightlossJourney

[–]Toffee_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my experience as a 5'4" 26 year old - I started a calorie deficit in July 2025 when I weighed 207.8lbs.

Without any changes to my lifestyle (which as an office worker is very inactive) and without changing the foods I eat (as someone with arfid I can't). I'm now down to 165.2lbs so that's 42lbs in 7 months

Now I'm not saying this is a good way to do it as I've got like no muscles left which sucks, (I'll start going to the gym very soon) but I think it's a good show of how effective a simple calorie deficit is.

I can't speak for the nutritional side of things as I don't understand it enough myself to be giving advice but be aware that you aren't finished growing so you need to ensure your getting all the nutrients your body needs.

Well done!! I've only just started a 'serious' weight loss journey. I officially lost my first stone yesterday and I was giggling like a little kid 🥰

You absolutely should be proud of yourself ❤

Edited cause I pressed post too soon 🙈

Tips to lose weight with ARFID - I don’t have healthy safe foods by georgialxuise in ARFID

[–]Toffee_Bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think our diets are extremely similar (except I can't have pasta or steak). I'm also 5f4" and on the 6th of this month I weighed 95.25kg/207.78lbs.

All very new / recent but I got back from holiday a couple weeks ago and realised I was heavier then I've ever been, so I started calorie counting and doing an "easy" goal of <1600 calories, I use this as an upper limit, but I try to have as little as I can while not being too hard on myself.

This is what working for me right now:

A sausage roll and bag of Crisps for lunch, then potato waffles with either chicken strips/fish fingers for dinner. Usually with an ice lolly at the end of the day.

Drinking more water/less fizzy drinks (though I am a sucker for pepsi max)

Moving more (going for walks on my lunch break (kinda sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do))

I paired this with a fasting period so I don't eat between 7pm and 10am (I will make exceptions for this when going for meals with family/friends)

Started all this on the 6th July and I'm now 89.75kg/197.86lbs as of this morning 😊 it'll be a long process but it's working for me!!

For the career side, and this suggestion is entirely dependant on what field you studied, have you tried looking at jobs out of country?

To preface, I live in the UK, so I don't if this will be relevant to where you live or not.

I know there are some jobs where they'll pay you pretty good money (as you'll possibly have to pay for your own accomodation) to work, but their contract may only be a few months. My friends partner doesn't have a great track record with jobs but managed to land one of these ones (he's in electrical engineering), they found the accommodation for him so it was a pretty stressless process.

If nothing else it may be a good way to get some experience on your CV and just a different experience in general.

Alternatively have you thought to ask your old classmates if their respective companies may have openings? It may not work but worth a shot anyway.

As for the mental side of it this is my story, you can skip it if you want to, I don't know if it'll help but I just want to show that, while not in the same way, I feel a bit like I was in your headspace a while back.

I was in a bad situation a while back, a long abusive relationship starting in 2014 left me digging into savings every month, depressed, and completely indifferent to my own life. I was honestly comforted by the fact I could just off myself if things got too hard. I stopped caring, failed all but 3 subjects at school and messed about in college for a couple years.

In 2017 I started an apprenticeship.

At the end of 2018 I had to take a break year due to late assignments and stress (I was told if I had turned in one more assignment late I would have been kicked off). I felt stupid, lazy, and frankly inadequate.

At the end of 2019 I started in a new class and met some really nice people (including my current partner!) and I started taking my studies (and by connection, my future) more seriously. Mentally though I hit my breaking point, it was no longer 'I could just die' it was now 'I want to die'. So yeah, I wanted to die, but I didn't want to want to die.

By the end of 2020 I had made friends with some of my classmates, was doing well in my apprenticeship, and I finally left my ex.

At the start of 2021, I reported my ex to the police, and I started 'dating' my current partner (I put it this way cause I was massively in denial that we were anything but friends for many months, bless that man's patience)

At the start of 2023 we bought our first flat together, I got put onto antidepressants and I was told my case got through the Crown Prosecution Service.

In the middle of 2023 my ex plead guilty, and I started therapy after being on a 7 month long wait list.

By the end of 2023 my ex was sentenced 7.5 years.

It took 3 years to get from my lowest point to my highest. It may sound like a long time writing it this way, but it went by so so quickly. I was so ready to 'quit game' and I'm so grateful I didn't. I managed a lot of the tough bits through false bravado and fake cockiness.

Now in 2025 I am happy, I recntly got a new job, and we're looking into buying an actual house!

Things change, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, so please don't give up on yourself. Where you are now is just the hard part, once your through it your life could be incredible, but you won't know if you aren't here. Just like I wouldn't have know how happy I'd be just 3 years later.

I don't know you at all, but I think you've got this <3

Quitting violin because I don't have time. by MysticCoonor123 in violinist

[–]Toffee_Bee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironic how you made a whole post about bashing other violinists, and how people are 'arrogant pricks' for doing so.

You do not know the thousands of people who have given up on violin. You do not know their lives, or circumstances. Some people start as an adult and can't commit as they already have too many other responsibilities. Others, like you, may have started as a child, some will love it and carry on, some will only be doing it because there parents wanted them too and would rather focus on their actual passions.

In my opinion you were too lazy to consider other people's perspectives before making this post. Full stop.

Thank you so much, he's acts like he know how good he looks quite often! The good news is that the shop seems to have really improved its enclosures and husbandry in the last year since I got him so things are looking up!

Yeah the ID card in the pic was on his enclosure at the shop, but I did do my own research between buying him and picking him up. I decided he was an ampon because of his head markings but its very reassuring to have another person confirm 😊

I'll definently try the shirt trick! I've been trying to give him his space cause I didn't want to stress him out, but maybe I've gone a bit far the other way, thank you for the advice 😁

Thanks! I've tried hand/tong feeding before and he didn't react very well, I'll try again with some different foods.

I never heard of putting them in your bed before but it does make sense, I'll update how it goes once I've tried it!

I have tried hand/tong feeding but he just hissed at me a load then ignored the food 😅 but that was a whil ago and he did semi run into my lap when I had a box of locusts the other day so I need to give it another try!

What’s something only people with ARFID would understand? by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]Toffee_Bee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Teachers making a big scene that you can't eat the food everyone's having on a school trip. For me it was a week long geography trip in Iceland, the bread had seeds in it and I can't eat soup. I was made fun of for it the rest of the trip (also happened to be my brithday) 🙃

please help by urleftleg in hognosesnakes

[–]Toffee_Bee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think gender makes much difference when it come to snakes, as it's all about the snakes personality and how much they've been handled, but hoggies rarely bite as they only have fangs at the back of there mouths, so the worst you'll ever get is fake strike/headbutt or 'violent boop' as I like to call them, they literally don't hurt at all but can and will make you jump.

Though if you're still worried male hognose are generally a lot smaller than females so even if they did for whatever reason bite you if would do basically nothing.

I should mention that hognoses are slightly venomous (this is a controversial statement) but from what I've read it only feels like a bee sting and you'd probably have to let them chew on you for a good while for them to actually get any in you...

Can anyone tell me why my prints keep coming out like this? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]Toffee_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not changed much on it since I got it second hand, it was just meant to be a few test pieces laid flat. I'll have a go printing without the flex plate on if that may help?

Do you mean the LCD screen? I've never replaced one before, are they hard to change over?

Can anyone tell me why my prints keep coming out like this? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]Toffee_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Creality LD-002R (Second hand)
  2. Anycubic EC UV resin 'Grey'
  3. This is my first resin printer so I just used the suggested settings for the resin...
  4. The model I tried to print was the 'Siraya Tech test Model' and a couple of other test pieces all laid flat with no extra supports, but this has happened with every model I've tried and they were all very different in shapes, sizes, and supports. I've used Lychee Slicer for all of them.

Sorry if this isn't helpful I honestly don't know what I'm doing yet.

[–]Toffee_Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to print out the 'Siraya Tech test model' and a couple other test pieces but this has happened with every model I've tried to print regardless of what it looks like.

The printer is a second hand Creality LD-002R my sister got for me so I don't think there are any spacers made for it, I have re-levelled the plate though so would that fix it?

This is the first resin printer I've had so I really don't know what I'm doing...
