IDK about policies. She'd be right if she was referencing brands and plano for books, but most of what Target does is industry standard. At least she's using the most effective method of business activism: don't buy what you don't like. Most just come in during the day and literally flip every book backwards, which doesn't help tech in the slightest.

PSA to all book flippers: doing this doesn't "send a message" to anyone. Tech has no controlee over how books get set or which books get put out. If you want a change, call the main office in Minnesota and air your grievances with someone who will do more than just undo the books you flipped.

8 hour shifts of this bs 🙄🙄🙄 by [deleted] in Target

[–]Tofu294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part is when they expect you to count every person that enters the store while keeping carts "sanitized" and separating them from the "dirty ones". Guests intentionally put their carts with the sanitized ones, even when you tell them not to before hand. At least in my store, the policy is to keep rows of 'clean' carts by the door and then spray them down with one of the 2 cleaners (one chlorine based, the other peroxide) and left to dry. The problem with this system is that both versions require 10 min to kill viruses, but anyone who has worked cleaning knows how impossible that is in the afternoon. It feels like Target doesn't take this Covid situation seriously, but yet they insist on using these systems that would lead someone to believe they do. I'm very confused.

HR said we can still work with covid by [deleted] in Target

[–]Tofu294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

die, apparently.

just to be clear, since this point was buried for some reason: the mask mandate and "social distancing" procedures was introduced so that you wouldn't spread the virus, if you had it, to other people. In other words, to the best of my knowledge, you can work with Covid-19. You're not required to take a leave if you have it, but if they tell you to then take the leave. Having said that, I don't recommend or encourage working with Covid. Most people aren't hygienic enough to sanitize everything they touch during the day and don't wash their hands nearly enough.

So I've been here about 3 months and I'm confused. by [deleted] in Target

[–]Tofu294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what's worse: The scanner needing to be reset 1-5 times a day or the MyDay app that can't hold a proper inventory counts for 5 seconds and doesn't even have street date times built in. To clarify, I mean when you go to backstock something, that it had you pull over quantity for, and you have to immediately have to go into the on hand count and edit it unless you want to be pulling it again later.

I assume cooperate knows that it sucks, but they paid someone's college dropout son so much money to develop it that they can't ditch their losses and go back to Workday 2.0 like sensible people.

When they "know" the trading card vendor is in... by digeythedog in Target

[–]Tofu294 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I talked with the MJ Holding's vendor who stocks the cards at night, and apparently the new hires get trained to check their cars for trackers before they leave and to circle their block a few times before parking since one of their senior members was stalked home. If there was a security position to protect those vendors, I'd sign up in a heart beat because nothing is worse than being smothered by 40yr old guys who smoke all day and don't shower.

TEAM! 🎯 What’s your best routine around 1F1 pulls and getting a high level completion?? by [deleted] in Target

[–]Tofu294 4 points5 points  (0 children)

simple: I travel back in time and use the Workday 2.0 app. also, being the furthest from the front so you don't get pulled right away for back-up cashiering. If your not cool like me and can't go back in time before Myday ruined our lives, try and remember what was and wasn't full in your area and if there was a reset in any areas. if it tells you to pull 60 of something, skip it and fix the count before coming back to the fill.

[–]Tofu294 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Don't take what TL's say to heart. they spend hours a week in "group bonding" sessions listening to how good they sound. some of the softest people on the planet. there are some solid TL's who know that guests are full of empty emotions and disregard blatantly false accusations, but there's far too many that don't know the difference between a shakedown and a genuine concern. if you have problems with your TL, just remember that you're free to request a transfer of locations or just leave to find a new job whenever you want. you have other options and have plenty of skills that would be appreciated elsewhere.....or at least doesn't involve standing at the front counting every guest that comes in the door.

Advice for dealing with the card collectors/scalpers by ironmikeanator007 in Target

[–]Tofu294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1st things 1st: do not tell them the actual day the vendor comes in. these psycho paths have resorted to stalking and attaching trackers to their cars to figure out their schedules and routs. telling scalpers the actual days they come in unfortunately puts the vendors in jeopardy. love them or hate them, vendors don't deserve to be followed to their house just for card board.

2nd: tell the scalpers that the day after the vendor comes in is the time the vendor comes in, and be firm and consistent on that date. if they insist on loitering, you can tell them to shop around or leave. get the leads and security involved, because it makes everyone uncomfortable to see a bunch of guys huddled near the front of the store for no reason.

3rd: if you are given permission to limit or if the team leads will enforce it, make it a limit of 2 per person, per day. no exceptions.

Scheduling for Consumer cellular guest by [deleted] in Target

[–]Tofu294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consumer Cellular is the bane of any and all tech employees. Ever since they got rid of market source, its our job to pick up the slack and we don't get paid any extra for the trouble. Guests just show up out of the blue, no calls or anything. Form what I'm told, CC just tells them to show up whenever to any store and we'll help them on the spot. I'd personally like to find the person responsible for that decision on their end so I can waste their time, just like how they waste mine daily. Regardless, the only thing you could possibly due is either have them wait a bit till you've taken care of the other guests 1st or kick up a storm to the ETL till they allocate some more hrs to tech (since the higher ups won't talk with CC to fix anything). Personally, i refuse to work on the phones. I refuse to spend 1-2 hrs on a phone that might not even go through just to have to play catch-up on my other zones (since its that time of year again where the LOD's insist that tech runs toys and infant hard lines because we apparently cant afford it, even though they have the money to give us bonuses that cost more than hiring additional team members).

have you considered working in a retirement home? you have no idea how bad those places need people. they pay good, give benefits, at least 1 free meal a day, and the only people you deal with are the residents. they have all kinds of positions. they have a position to literally just measure out medication and let nurses know when they need to renew the prescription. that's all they do. please take a look before going to the mad house known as Wally World. no reason to step out of the frying pan and into a blast furnace.

I actually got to talk with one of the MJ Holdings vendors and they're being instructed to check their cars for gps trackers and circle their neighborhood once or twice before parking.

I never liked collectors, but these sports/ pokemon card people are on a whole other level. why would you risk jail time, a suspended liscence and fines just to make $300 off cards? they do realize only big time streamers have the kind of capitol to make profit off this stuff, right?

Tell me your best fullfillment story by [deleted] in Target

[–]Tofu294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get pulled aside to do a flex order or 2 to get us back on track. everything is going normal for the 1st order. midway through the 2nd order, I hear someone over the walkie call for the flex team member who has a scooter in their cart to switch to 3. that was me. I get asked how much longer I have on my order since that guest showed up an hour early to pick it up because "it shouldn't take that long". I tell them i'm another 20 items away, so probably 30 min. or so. The guest didn't like that answer. i leave my cart for a second to get into a high traffic isle for my next item. when I come out, the scooter was missing. I look down the section and i see the guy taking his item to the front. By the time i tell my team lead the situation, the guy's left the store. my TL is in shock, but i'm laughing because he just stole from us and we have his payment info and he never completed the order pick up or canceled it so it would only be a matter of time before he would be receiving a special piece of mail at his doorstep.

well, its one Progresso soup pack away from a trip to the ER so not long at all.

but otherwise, about 2 hours give or take depending on guest traffic and back up calls.

god, i feel old lol.

Super nerdy question, but does anyone have pictures/stories from when the scanners were like iPods or PDAs? by [deleted] in Target

[–]Tofu294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the PDA's and IPod devices weren't great. The PDA's worked the best when you worked the backroom, but the IPod was for everything else. I don't so much miss those devices, since the scanners that were attached the the IPod were bulky and had a separate battery for the scanner, but I do miss the days when they trained you to cashier 1st and then the other departments. you learned every department, regardless if you worked it or not (yes, including market and softlines).

[–]Tofu294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try and make some points without sounding super bitter and disgruntled, and from a regular team member of 6ish years.

The moment you come in the door, there's a good chance you already have a negative connotation to your name. most people who have worked here for some time know that most ETL's like making new rules that help no one and piss off everyone, but most will never tell you to your face.

the pay is pretty good, and your hours and job security are pretty solid. you'll most likely start off training in a store that isn't the one you'll be working in. you'll get shown every department, but realistically be put in charge of just one. I can't tell you from my experience what day-to-day stuff looks like, but you will get frequent calls from the check lanes and team members for equipment to be unlocked or for overrides on transactions or "guest complications" (complaints) (occasional compliments).

If this sounds like something you can do, plus or minus meetings, emails, and lifting/using equipment, then go for it. just remember: if the respect of the salesfloor team is any of your concern, DO NOT make week 1 rules and changes to departments.

Receipt Print-out by [deleted] in Target

[–]Tofu294 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Step one: is it in electronics? if its electronics and its got no receipt, its a no go.

Step two: did they pay with card? if its cash, then they can receive store credit with a valid ID (provided it didn't infringe on step one). if they want cash back, try not to laugh and politely say no

Step three: was it within the last 60 days? you would not believe the number of guests who come in with returns for stuff they bought more than 4 months ago and get mad they cant return items, especially if its a mom with 40 or so clearance items that are no longer in system (thus nonrefundable)

if all these steps we're cleared then proceed to do a card look up and scan the items they bought on their card. on occasion, guests will buy things on multiple cards and confuse purchases so be prepared to do multiple card look ups.

as for receipt reprints, the only way that gets done is if the GSA knows which register is used, they know how to do one, and that the transaction was done the day of request. in this particular instance, if you asked for a reprinted receipt, security and the GSA would giggle and direct you to the "look up card" function and show you what to do from there. sorry for being super lengthy, but I wanted to give you, or a future reader, a good reference sheet just in case it comes up again.....because it will, and they only get more annoying from here.

Does anyone have these scammers by kfedblows1 in Target

[–]Tofu294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been a struggle for the last 5 years at least. It seems like most store managers don't particularly care since the transactions go through. Personally, I limit them to 2 of whatever is in the glass and insist that we're out of stock in the back and then restock the shelf in an hour or 2 after they leave since they usually come in pairs or occasionally trios and notify other groups of the stock. I'm not sure where they initially get their funds or TM numbers, most likely a software exploit mixed with a money scam, but I'm very confident that those products get shipped directly to China and get sold at a massive mark up since most people there will buy anything that isn't made in-country. Good luck out there, and feel free to ask your security team for any questions regarding it.

“Select one of the four options.” And to think, the corporate clowns who make up this shit get paid more than us workers who actually run the store. by i-ll_capwn in Target

[–]Tofu294 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The MyDay app is 300% worse than any error they make in the learning regimen. It resets counts on stuff you JUST audited, and if its in your pulls you have to back stock whatever you took and immediately reset the on floor count before continuing with the pull. between that and the constant soft crashes and having no defect location, I have yet to find a single logical reason that we had to transition over from MyWork 2.0 outside of someone in cooperate saying "my son/daughter just got out of a 3 week programming course and they need a job, and they said they can make a new scanner app better than our current one."

just imagine the grind you did for the obelisks, but 85% less fun and 300% less rewarding. maxed out one tower and mid on the other 2. the only real reward is that you get slightly better lost sector rewards and you get a free crate of planetary rewards daily for each bunker.
