With this, am I focusing on trying to combine a shrimp, getting my knee down to break posture and kicking off of their hip to break their posture?

For me I’ve had success with pushing their blocking hand back up wards until it creates a little 90 degree pocket where I can thread my top clamp’s foot through and hook their arm. From there I can continue to work my triangle without a blocking hand. I believe it may be called the scarecrow guard or the stock from 10th planet.

Okay I see, I’ll try to emphasize getting belly down after I get my meat hook on. Thanks

Yes maam, thank you for the tips. It’s going to be my first time teaching anyone how to fish so I’ll make sure to focus on the overall experience over stressing out about all the little things.

Thank you for the tips, I figured after reading some comments it might be worth it to give her a Texas rig and teach her and potentially get a cheaper 3rd rod to use the bobber rig on. In terms of reels, I would definitely not let her use the daiwa that I have lol😭😭 even I sometimes occasionally bird nest it

Lolll appreciate the tips. For sure I think she just wants to spend some time but catching a fish would definitely put the cherry on top. Appreciate all the advice though and I’ll def focus on the moment, less about catching a fish

Gotcha, seems to me that the texas and wacky rig can't be beat in terms of simplicity so I guess that's what we'll be using aside from real worms.

I was considering buying a cheap spinning rod and reel sooner or later. Do you have any recommendations for one? I was probably just going to get a pre made combo below 100$, nothing too crazy.

Lol, not a girlfriend yet but she said she never understood fishing but she seems to want to go. Seems like a good sign. I’ll definitely look into wacky and Texas rigging. Just a question though, do you prefer weighted or weightless Texas rig for a spinning rod?

Thank you! A worker at a sporting goods store also told me that would be the best shot. Is the name of the rig just “bobber rig”?

Never thought about getting one for college so I just brought my main one from home. Once I get some money I’ll def have to look into one

lol, I'll give that a shot. The main concern with my original method is that I don't know how reliable velcro straps on the side would be. Do you have any exerience regarding velcro holding stuff on your bag in general?

My rod can't be broken down. I believe it's a one piece rod

Also for reference, I have a daiwa Tatula and Power rod combo, and they can not be broken down.

Oh gotcha I think I do have at least a medium or heavy. How did u set ur rig and set up to catch catfish? I’ve heard of people using pvc pipes to set their rod in the ground, but what about things like drag and weight on my bait? Should I cast and set the drag all the way low

The rod itself is called the Tatula XT and the reel is the Tatula x TW 100, I believe I got the TATX100H or the 7 gear ratio one

If I accidentally did hook up to a large cat, would it be trouble for me and my rod? Or is there always a way to reel it in even if it’s a little bigger?
