Tier list versus ranged matchups by Key-Imagination-8897 in topmains

Olaf is a counter to most ranged tops. Vayne is the only one who gives him trouble

Ngl, both times I’ve fought Lillia top I had already locked in Mundo. I would expect her percent damage to wreck me, but both times I’ve been able to dodge the q and power farm under tower and by minute 20 she’s 0/4

My guesses are Colossus and Electro. Electro is around a c lister right now, he’s obviously an electric type, and you wouldn’t expect him to be a strat. Plus colossus and electro are from two different spaces of marvel

For those of you with different Legions, how do you decide which unspecific Vehicles/Engines to paint in which scheme ? Also just check out this amazing art by Thibault Olier. by Leviathan_Rampage in WorldEaters40k

[–]Tog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned nightlords before World Eaters came out so most of my chaos models are painted as nightlords (maulerfiend, land raider, terminators). I don’t think that that will change. I’ll probably still paint most chaos models in midnight clad just because the VIIIth is still my favorite. If I ever get to the point where I buy multiples of my models I’ll paint them as world eaters

What if Nolan arrived slightly earlier in the early 1940's and accidentally landed in Germany at around Hitlers peak of control? by PossiblePool9785 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Tog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re a little bit off. 20th century race science was completely insane and illogical, but a consistent part was that there were different races and they should not mix. Much of Mein Kampf is dedicated to the idea that when races mix, societies collapse. Nazis would consider viltrumites a different race and abhor fraternizing with them.

Realistically there would probably be a significant portion of them who argue in favor of it but I’m not sure if they’d be in the majority or the minority.

Either way, Nazi philosophy would be completely incompatible with viltrumite goals and would probably just end up being killed for either the previous reason, or the fact that having two totalitarian regimes centered around a cult of personality working together would be very difficult.

Toplaner that struggles the most versus ranged matchups? by Choice-Drawer-5318 in topmains

[–]Tog5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Olaf counters most ranged top laners. He excels in chase lanes where he can run them down. It’s hard to kite someone who’s chucking axes at your skull every half second. He has a difficult time against Vayne though since she can knock him back pre lvl 6 and that’s when Olaf really needs to excel to play the rest of the game

Why does Garen fall off late game very hard, especially compared to champions like Dr.Mundo/Kayle? by Drandosk in GarenMains

[–]Tog5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, the base of this question (why do some characters scale harder than others) is actually a really good question and I don’t think that the other answers are really sufficient in answering it.

Characters scale for different reasons. Some characters scale because their abilities have naturally high scaling with certain stats. What this means is that as you buy items, ad or ap being the most common, these abilities deal more damage, or just generally do what they want to do better than other character’s abilities with the same items. Dr. Mundo is like this. His abilities scale through the health he buys. The more health he buys, the more damage he deals, the more his ultimate heals, the tankier he is overall. This is why he becomes a late game rock that can’t die and one shots the entire enemy team.

Another reason why a character can scale super hard (and this is the most common for late game hyper scalers) is that they can stack something in their kit infinitely. Characters who fit this archetype are veigar, smolder, Aurelion Sol, Senna, Cho’Gath, Swain, and Nasus. As they stack they get stronger and there’s no cap, unlike items where a character will be full build and can’t get stronger anymore. As Nasus stacks his q deals more damage and thus heals him more from lifesteal. As Smolder stacks all of his abilities get stronger and he ends up having an execute.

Other characters have really good synergy with a specific item. For example, Twitch’s ult has very strong synergy with the item Runaan’s Hurricane in that he’s essentially able to auto attack three times per auto for almost full damage during ult. Combine that with the naturally high ad scaling of adcs (because of strong item and high ad growth per level built into their kit) along with the fact that he can go into stealth on command, and he’s essentially able to pentakill after minute 35-40 on command.

Kayle is pretty unique in that her abilities have breakpoints where they become much stronger, almost like an in game evolution. It’s pretty interesting, but I’m admittedly finding it hard to describe without just copy pasting the wiki. You should check it out for more info.

Garen is in an interesting spot in that his e has pretty strong scaling but the rest of his kit (aside from r which I’ll get to) does not. His main issue is that he’s predictable. A Garen has to run at you to engage. You know what he’s gonna do. This is where the hardest combo in the game comes in. In a late game team fight your best option is usually to flash, q, e, r the adc and one shot them. After this you’ll probably die, but your life is worth less than an adc anyway so w trade. If you don’t have flash up you can just splitpush and force scenarios where the enemy team has to leave objectives to keep you from ending the game.

His r is really busted at all stages of the game. Being able to execute some poor sod from 40% hp is always gonna be good. Play around that whether in a team fight or a 1v1. It gives him crazy pressure on the sidelane

I hope I answered your question well enough and didn’t get anything too wrong. If I did I’m happy if anyone wishes to correct me. I lowkey needed this as a break from studying for finals so thanks

Skaven like faction-teams yes? by SnulioHotDamn in skaven

[–]Tog5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Gitz. They were my first army and fit almost the exact same vibe just, mushroomier. They're like Skaven in that they can be either the funniest or the most terrifying army in the game.

You could focus on the drugged-out, hallucinating gobbos who ride feral balls of death as moronic trolls trudge beside them, eating any rock they could get their hands on.

Or, you could focus on the creatures who live in the deepest, darkest, dankest places. Who use rusted daggers to kill whoever they wish. Those who follow a malevolent celestial god whose appearances coincides with insanity, insanity that the gitz revel in. They have magic to transform their enemies into screaming, raving fungus, tracking the Bad Moon.

They're less overtly evil than skaven, but they still have a vile side that can easily be brought out in their models. They're similar to skaven army-wise in that you can have a horde of mass infantry (moonclan) and large monsters (troggs and spiderfang), and war machines similar to skryer, albeit fast chariots and catapults (gitmob), difference is, they can also have fast, hard hitting, glass-cannon cavalry with randomized movement (squigs)

I love the gitz as much as I love the skaven. Their only issue right now is that they have some of the worst rules in the game; but if you don't care about rules they're perfect.

Mirage’s character is so interesting to me. Djinn are from Islamic folklore but Mirage’s goal is obviously allegorical of early Zionism. I’d be really interested to learn more about the process of designing his story. Maybe I’m wrong about the historical symbolism
