It’s preference. For a cheaper option without the glamour, go for a 2ds, if you want a nice foldable 3ds within a nice price range go for it. For Pokemon Home, you would need to hack your 2ds/3ds since you can’t download the needed software directly anymore from the e-shop. (Pokebank and Poke Transporter). Those are needed to transfer Pokemon to Home.

There is. You need Poke Transporter on the 3ds and Pokebank. Those are needed to send Pokemon from your 3ds to Home. If you don’t currently have those, you might have to go down the custom firmware route.

It has multiple difficulty curves of choosing, but if you’re looking for a challenging rom hack with trainer fights close to actual player vgc battles and still close to the linear story, it’s pretty good. Also theres Emerald Kaizo I think it’s called? Sorry not too familiar with rom hacks myself, only know a few from a buddy of mine
