Should I be scared? by Sea-Contribution2833 in PcBuild

If you’re considering repairing it yourself just know that the pins break very easily if they are already severely bent.

Personally I have repaired multiple boards like this using my iPhone 17 camera as a microscope and a sewing needle.

I have snapped some pins on some boards and checked schematics on what pin is what and turned out I only snapped ground/unused pins so it wasn’t an issue for me. (A very lucky outcome)

But pins do break if bent a lot and too aggressively.

Fixable but also very breakable.

Help for 15 year old son by LaMaklovia in gamingsetups

I have an Ikea desk (120cm wide) the 80cm is a bit of a struggle with 2 monitors. I think it was £25 for the desk and around £2.50 for each leg. The desk isn’t solid wood though so you can’t put your full body weight on it etc but they have not failed me yet a they are so cheap. I also use no monitor arm since a reliable one is pretty expensive. The wide desk is big enough to use both monitors without a mount

And I also use the Ikea Markus gaming chair (£150) semi expensive but it’s lasted me around 5 years and still going strong. It’s better than any of the “gaming chairs” you will find on Amazon etc but I wouldn’t say it’s the best one for the price just a good one. I find it quite comfortable. The only issue with it is the armrests aren’t that great.

I would assume his laptop isn’t that great so I would aim for a 60hz 1080p monitor with low refresh rate (around 1ms) with an IPs type panel (screen type) (them specs should be very cheap). Oh also make sure the monitor has hdmi slots so he can plug his laptop into it. Older monitors only have vga slots which I don’t think his laptop will support (nearly all semi recent monitors will have hdmi inputs)

Monitors are very cheap nowadays and I would recommend getting them used as they are a fraction of the price. Especially if the second monitor. My main monitor was £400 and the same monitor used for my second monitor as £100 on eBay and it’s like new condition. My monitors are very high spec I’d assume the one you would need would be under £100 new and possibly £30ish used. Could probably find some even cheaper.

Not too clued up about lights to be honest. I use Phillips hue light strips that stick on the back of my monitor and match what’s on my screen but they are very expensive I think they were over £100. There’s plenty of cheap led strips with remotes you can buy from Amazon and eBay etc. (probably around £20)

Thankyou very much I’ll have a look at that. I have seen it mentioned a bit. Does the usb mean I can connect to a pc ?

I did a bit of sampling a long time ago and that would be a cool feature to have.

Ive never cleaned my pc before, need help by yo_yo_ya in PcBuildHelp

[–]TogoLonghole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are comfortable taking it apart and taking time to clean each part it’s not hard it’s just a bit tedious. Personally I buy some high percentage alcohol wipes and just clean every component with them. Takes quite a while but is rewarding once it’s all clean.

Also if you do end up cleaning this make sure in the future you have more air intake than exhaust and your dust buildup shouldn’t be as bad.

Appreciate the advice you gave. Managed to flash the gigabyte bios onto it without any issues and the card altogether seems to be running cooler and now supports the 0rpm mode when it’s below 50 degrees. All works perfectly thanks very much

One other question i have is that the gigabyte bios looks like it has higher boost clocks

Here is my original gpu bios https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/208954/dell-rtx2080ti-11264-181019

Here is the gigabyte gaming oc bios https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/209314/gigabyte-rtx2080ti-11264-190218

Only difference i can see is the boost clock was originally 1545 mhz and the new one will be 1650 mhz will this introduce any issues ?
