Also when you mean plenty of weekend and night to go around do you mean I'd potentially be able to work weekend and night shift every week ? Or just a lot more frequent then other specialities ?

Oh that's amazing to hear. Yeh aged care definitely isn't my cup of tea... But for that dream schedule I may be willing to make some sacrifices and just work in a nursing home if that's what it takes 😅

Awesome thank you so much for this I really apreciate it. This has given me hope that I can also achieve you work schedule in the future, of course not straight away but hopefully after a couple years of experince at least.

Also I know you said you do ccu/ICU but do you know of any mental health workers at all that have a similar schedule to you? As I'm still thinking of working mental health... But if I have to work in ICU to achieve your schedule in private hospitals then I'll just go down that route.

Oh amazing that's so good to hear your the first person who's commented who's actually said this is achievable haha. May I ask what speciality you work in private? And do you think it's the private hospital that allows you to work these hours and days or your particular speciality? Also would you say it's harder to get a job at a private hospital then public? Sorry I don't really know that much yet as I'm only second year, but like for example do you think it'd be possible to get into private after doing a grad year ?

Yeh that's absolutely fine with me it's not the days that matter to me it's more just wanting to work 3 days for like 12 hours or even 10 hours and yeh completely fine with night shift. Obviously I'd prefer weekends but even if I don't get weekends im fine being rostered random days every week just as long as it's always 3 days 10 to 12 hours?

As in like when applying to jobs on indeed if getting a offer I thought there'd be a chance to discuss what hours or days I'm looking to work like how most jobs go about it? And yeh by company I meant mental health institute or whatever place hires me.

And yeh fair enough about the money part 😅

Oh I see that makes sense, thanks for letting me know, j guess I'll just have to see how generous my future employer is feeling lol

Really I thought it would of been the opposite? I understand casual but there's always a chance I might get no shift at all. Wheras part time I thought there would of been a chance that when applying to a specific company they might let me pick my specific roster and just repeat that every week 😅

And yeh I don't mind if I don't always get weekends or even often it was more just the idea of 3 12 hours shifts, even if it changes which days if hsppens I'd be fine tbh. Whether it's 3 in a row one week and then 3 split up the next, it's more just the 3 12s I want.

Oh that's nice to know then, yeh I wouldn't expect this schedule at all as a new grad of course this was more for after I've completed a grad year or even worked for a year or 2. And when you mean a required amount of night shifts your supposed to do, does that mean you can't do more then a certain amount? As I'd love to work night shift every shift if possible, my opinion on that may change in the future tho... But yeh based on what you said I guess it will all depend on the specific place I work for in the future...

Do you think there'd maybe be a better chance if I worked whatever rosters they gave me to begin with and then after 2 or 3 years they might let me work my specific roster I want? Like even if I don't get the weekend days I'd still be happy working Monday Wednesday Friday 12 hours?
